Ryoko's POV
As the class ended for the day, I made my way to the parlor for a much-needed haircut, it was just a light trim at the ends.
Just as I stepped out, I heard Marito's voice booming, "Siguma's the strongest bunch!" Turning around, I spotted Marito with Arajin, Jabashiri, and another figure whose name escaped me.
"Where the hell are you taking my brother?!" I demanded annoyed. "Tsk! What a party pooper," Jabasiri muttered irritably. "If you're that worried, why don't you come along?" Marito retorted.
Despite the sense of danger, curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to tag along. "Our fights always end in victory! We'll give you a real beating again today!" Marito sang as we walked.
"Boss, is this okay?" The unnamed figure asked, concern lacing her voice. Marito nodded, shooting me a glance. "The more, the merrier. She's also joined Minato Kai. Might as well instill some fear so she quits."
"Yeah, right!" I scoffed, though inwardly, I was genuinely worried. I had never enjoyed fights, even in the past the sight of Marito come home with wounds always left me unsettled.
"Um, where are we going?" Arajin's question went unanswered as Marito's phone rang. "Yo, how's things going?" He answered it, speaking surprisingly cheery. "We're almost there."
"Better not let this go to your head, punk," Jabasiri grumbled, shooting Arajin a warning glance. "Oh, and Ryoko's coming..." Marito added softly before disconnecting the call.
Then, Marito's phone rang again, this time displaying Mikoto's name. I expected Marito to answer, but to my surprise, he ignored it.
"Sounds like everything is set. Let's-a go!" Marito cheered, pulling Arajin closer by his shoulder. "But where are we going?" Arajin asked, voicing the question that had been on my mind.
"Your welcoming party! Where else? We'll be spoiling you with debauchery!" Marito replied mischievously, though I was certain he was just joking.
"D-Debauchery?!" Arajin seemed to have misunderstood once again, and I shook my head, wondering how I ended up with such an idiotic brother.
"Please! Stop!" Our walk halted abruptly as we heard someone's plea. We turned to see an outsider gang cornering a lone student.
"Shit! Only 1,000 yen? Huh?! We're screwed, man!" one of the thugs exclaimed. "How so?" Marito interjected, his voice cutting through the tense air.
"I told you, if we don't get another 30,000 today, the Emperor will—" the thug began to explain before realizing they had been caught by Siguma.
"So you're ripping off kids from our school now? You've got some nerve," Marito declared, stepping forward and delivering a swift kick to one of the thugs, causing the others to falter back in intimidation.
I walked over to check on the wounded victim, and as I passed Marito, he caressed the back of my neck, whispering, "Careful, they might be armed." I nodded as a shiver ran down my spine.
"Are you okay?" I asked, helping the first-year student sit up. He nodded, and aside from a few scratches, there were no visible wounds.
I applied some small bandages to the scratches to offer some relief.
"Why are the NG Boys here?" Jabashiri demanded, his tone filled with frustration. Suddenly, they drew their pocket knives, and Marito's playful expression hardened.
"Those things could get someone killed!" Arajin exclaimed, visibly shaken. I shared his concern, anxiously watching Marito's reaction, hoping he wouldn't get hurt.
