Chapter Eleven

Fifteen Year-Old Emma Jonas smiled as she watched herself turn invisible in the mirror. She couldn't beleive she was so lucky to get this, best birthday present EVER! She let out a giggle as she turned visible again, loving the way she just appeared in the mirror as if she never vanished. What teenager wouldn't want these powers?

Thirteen Year-Old Emma Jonas sat backstage as she listnened to her brothers perform. She was happy for her brothers, loving that their dreams finally came true for them, but these events could get so boring. How many times can one person hear the same song? She listened to the crowd sing along, apparently, a lot.

A Four Year-Old Emma Jonas was seen sitting on the lawn of her new house in New Jersey. She hated it here, she missed her old house, her old friends. She just wanted to be back home. Suddenly, a basket ball bounced into her driveway. Curious, Emma got up and picked up the ball, dribbling it to herself. It wasn't until she heard a cough when she realized she wasn't alone, she looked up to see a boy with brown hair and eyes to match. He put his little hands out as Emma smiled, passing it back to him. The boy then smiled, passing it back to her. Emma, Meet Andrew.

A two year-old Emma sat on a bed in a big room full of other beds. She poked at her band-aid, the puncture still fresh from the shot only a year ago. She watched as the other girls in the Orphanage ran around, having the time of their life. Emma sometimes joined in, but today she wasn't up to it, and kept to herself with her books. It wasn't until Mother Helen walked in, followed by a nice looking couple...a mother and father, perhaps? Emma, Meet the Jonas'. Your new family.

Emma sat in a dark room alone. She recognized it....the crib....the lullaby from a music box playing softly. but it wasn't a Jonas house. The door then swung open, causing baby Emma to turn her head to see a figure walking over, leaning over the side of the crib. He cooed at the baby as he lowered a syringe down to her, injecting the girl with something. The baby screamed, the man cried, and a woman ran in, threatening to call the police. The man apologized repeatedly, but it was too late. She was to be taken away in the morning.

I jolted awake from my chair, looking around my surroundings. I was still in the cage, strapped to my chair as the wires hung off of me. What were those visions? It was almost like my laugh was flashing in my head...but I wasn't adopted, right? That's impossible, I scoffed, said the girl who could turn invisible.

I shook my head, no time to think about the past. I needed to get out of here, and fast. Dr. Stone could already be halfway to the city by now. I struggled in my restraints, but it was no use, no way would they break with my scawny arms. I bit my lip, I could feel my power almost recharging in a sense...maybe I could a force burst of some sort. Without using my hands, all I have to do is focus, right?

Closing my eyes, I imagined a giant wave of force coming off my body, tearing off the ropes. It wasn't until I heard glass shatter when I opened my eyes, now wide as I stared at my surroundings. The restraints were off, several pieces of them everywhere...but the glass cage was completely destroyed. The glass shards on the floor, I shrugged, at least I wouldn't have to worry about how to get out of the cage anymore, huh?

I slowly got up from my chair, still a bit dizzy from the treatment, and ran out of the cage. Dr. Stone had to have a phone somwhere, right? I rummaged through his desk, it wasn't until I broke a drawer open when I found a cell phone. Without giving it a second thought, I dialed Andrew's number.

Andrew: Uncle John! Thank Goodness, have you happened to hear from Emma?

Emma: It's me, Andrew.
