CHAPTER EIGHT : A LADY
<<♣︎>>
THE WATER made her feel strange as she sat in the tub, she could feel and see the steam from the water. Her blonde curls stuck to her back as she leant her scarred back against the tub, relaxing into the water best she could. She hadn't cleaned herself in who knows how long, did i look that bad in-front of Rumple? I hope I didn't smell...
Elizabeth could smile at the sight of bubbles and soap on the waters surface, she forgot how much she missed feeling clean, the smell of bubbles and playing with them in the bath. She breathed in heavily, looking to the side to stare at the dress she chose. A dark navy, almost black dress. It allowed her to have enough movement for her chores and also seemed the simplest out of the lot of different garments. She didn't particularly want to wear one of those extravehicular gowns she found full of fabric and powerful colours. Elizabeth wasn't ready to wear something like that after so long of being, well, a swan. It was almost bittersweet.
Eventually the girl decided to get out, shaking her feet of excess water. It made a nice change to see herself actually clean, she felt new as she slipped on her under garments, taking a look at herself in the broken full length mirror. Her blonde hair was starting to dry already, looking a lot better after being washed with proper soap. She slid on the dress, the cotton being surprisingly comfy on her scarred skin, it was more light than she imagined as well. Elizabeth looked back into the mirror, tilting her head as she looked. If she didn't know anything, she might've said she looked like a lady. She laughed slightly to herself, a lady wouldn't be a caretaker now would she?
RUMPLE sat on his usual stool, the gold passing through his fingers almost impatiently. He would not admit he was wondering what she looked like after getting changed, what her face would look like free of dirt and soot. Not that he minded her look right now, he never minded, she was beautiful either way- no, no, no, no. He just told her to clean up, for his caretaker to look presentable. That wasn't a form of softness towards her, no. It was simply telling something to change."Well?" Elizabeth had appeared behind him, had she been there long? He had let his guard down. Thinking of her. He turned around , taking careful look over her. She looked beautiful. Her face was one of innocence, she wore a dark navy, almost black dress.
"You, " He paused as he stood up, "You look better." Rumple smiled, walking towards the girl who stood by the edge of the table, a shy smile lacing her lips.
"Better? That's good." She grinned, fiddling with the fabric of the dress."Did I look that bad before?"
"No," Shit, that was too fast. "Of course not sweetheart." Elizabeth chuckled slightly, lifting herself onto the table.
"You chose that dress?" He commented, leaning his hand on the table next to her. "There's much nicer ones."
"I couldn't." She answered, looking away for a moment. "I mean, I could, but those dresses were clearly not for me...was it for someone else? Another woman maybe?" He frowned, turning his back to her to walk towards his wheel.
"Dungeons need cleaning."*
"GOLD?" She banged her fists not so kindly on the shop door, can't believe he actually locked it this time! "Gold?!" Elizabeth huffed, placing her hands on her hips. Why are men so bipolar? They threaten you then avoid you?
"Gold? It's Elizabeth!" She yelled, not noticing the concerned glances slash glares she was reciving. No reply. Hm. The girl made her way to the side of the shop, grinning almost devilishly as she reached the back door . If he didn't hate her earlier, he certainly would now. She slowly creaked open the door, surprise evident on her face when she realised it was unlocked. She walked in, almost tip toeing through the back of the shop. Elizabeth pursed her lips into a thin line, still being distracted by many of the mysterious objects in the shop. A necklace, a crown, antique objects she wouldn't know the name of. Elizabeth focus, she reminded herself mentally, taking a walk further into the shop almost jumping when she turned the corner into the front of the shop and seeing-
"Ah, Miss White!" Regina offered a honeyed smile, standing in-front of the shops desk. "Lovely to see you." Elizabeth's brows lifted and made their way to what Regina held, a feathered crown. Her sugary expression dropped as Elizabeth noticed this, turning into one of sterness."Now, let's talk shall we?"
