CHAPTER THREE : FOOLISH
"YOU MISSED A SPOT." He teased, leaning against the tall unused ballrooms wall. His eyes glanced over her, bubble's dancing around her as she mopped.
"I can see that." She grumbled, mopping the floor harder with an edge of annoyance making him chuckle. She was...different.Wasn't nice yet wasn't mean. She wasn't judgemental. Elizabeth stopped for a second, leaning against the handle of the mop. "I am sorry about the cup, I feel awful...it wasn't of significance was it?"
The smug look of his face dropped, narrowing his eyes and walking over to her. "What do you care if it was?" He was awfully close to her, less then arms length maybe. "Don't act like you care."
"I'm not. " She immeaditly replied defensively to Rumplestilskin. She took a deep breath, looking away to mop the floor once again. "I can be grateful, kindness is free. You're just like everyone else..well, a bit different. You can be a bit mad at times but I can bet you're kind at heart, and whatever has made you..angry, I'm sure there's a good reason for I-"
His boots could be heard stomping out of the room, the back of his head concealing a stern look. "Rumplestilsk-"
"Try and trick me again and it'll be the last time."
WELL, WHAT A GREAT SITUATION I'VE FOUND MYSELF IN! Elizabeth rubbed her forearms as the cold settled in her tiny white car, leaning her head against the seat's head rest. What am I even doing here? What...brought me here? The girl went to press the radio station, it playing out a muffled glitching song she nodded her head to the tune humming it out as she pulled her denim jacket tight around her.
'Well alright I'm bad but the-en you're no prize neither,
Alright I'm bad well then tha-ats nothing ne-ew!'A harsh knock was heard on the window, the girl jumping as she heard it, looking to the side. Behind it was the hard faced Mr Gold, tapping on the window. The blonde rolled down the window as well as the radio, plastering a surprised but pleasant smile on her lips. " Mr Gold, what are you doing on this fine eve-"
"What are you doing in your car?" He asked with a thick Scottish accent, peering into the back seat of the car. A blanket or two, empty chocolate wrappers a dozen takeaway coffee cups. "Are you staying here?" Mr Gold asked, furrowing his brows before looking back to an embarrassed Elizabeth."...no, I mean.Yes," She looked to him with a meek smile. "I've just came here, I'm just finding my feet." Elizabeth glanced behind him, realising she was parked just a few feet away from his shop. "..I'll park somewhere else, okay?" She reached to turn the engine on stopped by his hand grabbing her wrist. The girls head snapped up to him, images suddenly flashing in her head. Her mopping floors, dancing someone who looked like Mr Gold..yet a bit green, a bit scaley. Her crying at a lake, a dark figure behind her.
"Miss White? Elizabeth?" That voice broke her trance, suddenly snapping back to reality and making eye contact with him. He was still holding onto her wrist, not harshly, gently. She attempted to pick up the corners of her lips to a fake smile, failing miserably.
"Uhrm, sorry. I-I don't know what happened just there.. probably fatigue." She looked into his eyes, a glimmer of worry across them. "I'm fine. Hon-"
"You'll come with me." He spoke suddenly, opening the door and grabbing her forearm. "One night." He held up a finger, before pulling her out of her car. Causing her to stumble forward, grabbing onto his hand to steady herself and look up at him.
"What? No-" He tutted at her a placed a finger by her lips, shaking his head.
"I said one night dearie, no more no less." The girl paused before straightening herself, looking him over for a second before nodding."Alright. Alright. I'll stay with you, for one night! "
"For one night."
*
The two sat in the front of the car in a peaceful silence, Elizabeth humming to a a random tune. His glanced to the side, resisting the urge to smile at her. To not stare at her forever.
"I'd appreciate if you'd stop that humming."He grumbled, turning his gaze back to the road in front of him. All he had to do, was ignore her and ignore all of her things which were weaknesses to him. Ignore what she did and ignore all of what she said, it would just des-"HMM HMM HM HMM HMM!" She hummed louder than before, grinning at him as she did so. I love annoying him, she thought randomly.Very Randomly, why did I think that?
"I don't have to take you anywhere sweetheart." He said, rolling his eyes slightly. Stifling a smile.
"C'mon , you know you wanna smile." She grinned widely, turning her head to look straight at him. Her blonde curls framing her face nicely, the moonlight hitting her perfectly. "Ha, well look at that." His smile dropped, she made him smile. She was breaking him again. "I made the mysterious Mr Gold smile, and on my first couple of days? Aren't I lucky."" do you like annoying me?" Mr Gold said, trying his best to stop his smile creeping up. She nodded, staying silent for a moment observing him. His face was rested, a small smile on his lips his brown eyes staring straight ahead at the road. It didn't feel weird being in a strangers car, a guy she knew for like, what three days? She was smiling, she didn't know why.
"I'll take that as a yes." She rolled her eyes and looked out the window, they were probably five or so minutes away. Say something Elizabeth, say something.
" Soooooo... guy like you, must have someone." SAY SOMETHING, NOT THAT?!?
He chuckled, raising a brow at the blonde. "A guy like me?" Her cheeks tinged pink, looking at her beat up shoes.
"You know what I mean." Elizabeth mumbled , embarrassed.
" indulge me." "I've indulged you quite enough for one day Mr Gold."
