Taehyung is back on campus. Nothing has changed, at least nothing in his surroundings has changed.
The students are just as chaotic as they were, the teachers teach at the same speed of light - finishing one crucial topic - which apparently took Taehyung two days to understand - in just two hours and the usual courting gifts(?) by his locker. The only change Taehyung encountered is having a new friend. Jungkook.
That guy who apparently hated his guts and thought of him as some rich spoilt brat, is actually friends with him.
Since they're both business students, both are sharing almost all the classes except for the minor ones.
Taehyung’s minor is fashion studies, whereas Jungkook’s minor is music. So that's the only class they don't share. Other than that, he always feels Jungkook’s gaze on him. Of course, he might be wrong because Jungkook and Jimin sit behind them, so it's not really possible for him to figure out if his intuition is correct or not. But he knows, he just knows that there's a constant lingering stare.
Jungkook and Taehyung have exchanged numbers during the time Taehyung played with Yoongi and other players, but they didn't quite text informally - just stuff regarding their project.
Recently though, Taehyung has noticed Jungkook texting him frequently - okay maybe not that frequent but still, they're talking informally.
It's as if that one platonic Ice cream date worked as a bridge to mend any bitter feelings between the two of them.
Taehyung is not complaining though. He feels happy that he has made a new friend. It's quite rare after all. But he still prefers Yuna over Jungkook. The moment Taehyung collects his books and enters into his Accounts class, he sees him. Jungkook.
His head is covered with the black hood as usual, and he has his head down.
He looks around and sees barely six people are present in the class, excluding Jungkook. Even Jimin wasn't here yet.Taehyung hesitated for a moment before taking a seat beside Jungkook. To his surprise Jungkook still didn't raise his head.
“Jimin, my head is aching like a bitch, so please don't start your ‘I-love-Yoongi’ rant today.” Jungkook babbled out without even looking at the person sitting next to him.
“Oh damn! Is it that serious?” Taehyung asked, an amused expression dancing on his face.
Jungkook, however, looks taken aback. Of course, this is not something he was supposed to say out loud.
“I- uh, just pretend you didn't hear it. It's just a silly crush haha, nothing special.” Jungkook awkwardly tried to cover it up, but who's he kidding? His words were pretty clear, and Taehyung is no fool.
“Chill! I am not spilling anything to my brother. Yeah we might know each other's dirtiest and kinky disgusting secrets, but I know what not to tell him.” Taehyung assures him before muting his phone and sliding it into his pockets.
The professor hasn't entered yet, so he doesn't take out his notebook just yet. She usually arrives late anyway.“Ah thanks…I just thought it's Jimin. Usually he only sits beside me…” Jungkook mumbled out before putting his head down once again, but this time he turns his head towards Taehyung and talks rather than keeping his eyes shut.
“Do you mind me sitting here? I can always change. I just thought-”
“Oh no- of course I don't mind. I was just taken back. You're always welcome to sit beside me.” Even closer if you want.
Jungkook forcefully shushes his brain.“Okay! But tell me one thing, is your friend serious about Hyung? My hyung is kind of an asshole to others - no offense, I love him with all my heart, but let's be real, his aura screams “fuck-off from my sight” so I'm surprised.” Taehyung rambles, munching on diet gummies(?)
Jungkook makes a face when he sees them. They look awful and powdery.
“Hey! Don't make that face…it's good. You can try it if you want.” Taehyung offers one to Jungkook who grimaces in return.
Refusing to eat something which are not the actual gummy bear.Don't take him wrong, he's a fitness freak as well. But eating these diet candies isn't his thing.
“Fine! Don't eat it!” Taehyung huffs before sliding the small pack inside his bag pack.
“Those looks fucking weird. They look so powdery. How do you even like its taste? I bet real ones taste much better.” Jungkook snorts out.
And Taehyung wished his body would allow him to eat those things.
He doesn't remember the last time he had enjoyed a pack of skittles or M&Ms. He doesn't remember the last time he had his favorite dish from a small eatery he discovered during his middle school. He wished he could enjoy food just as it is and not worry about his body reacting to the food received negatively.Taehyung breaks out of his thoughts when Jungkook speaks again.
“Jimin is nice. He talks a lot, like a lot. He is also very flirty, like flirting runs through his bones. But he's nice. I've known him and the guys for a couple of months, and they're all nice. And well, Jimin has been head over heels for your brother since the first semester. He's always going on about Yoongi this and Yoongi that. So yeah, he's genuine about your brother. I do feel bad for him because you and I both know that Yoongi likes Hoseok and I wish I could tell that to Jimin so he could move on, but well it's not my story to tell, especially when Hoseok and Jimin are no less than best friends. So I'm kinda helpless.” Jungkook sighs out as he finishes explaining.“Hyung has been in love with Hoseok hyung for as long as I can think of, but his feelings were never really reciprocated. At the beginning, he would receive some mixed signals, but that also stopped. And honestly, I want hyung to move on. He's been hurting for a long time and I can't see him writing only dozens of sad songs. I need some bangers which aren't just heartbroken sad songs. So I'll try to help Jimin okay? I lowkey want them to date. They would make a cute pair, don't you think?” Taehyung asked with a boxy grin, and Jungkook felt himself getting lost again.
But before he can reply back, they're a light thud and both tear their gaze away from each other only to find Yoongi looking at Taehyung with curious eyes.
“Who would make a lovely pair?” Yoongi enquiries.
Before Jungkook can say anything, Taehyung replies back, making Jungkook halt.“Jay hyung and I. What do you think?” Taehyung says with a fake grin. But Jungkook doesn't notice it.
He oddly feels his chest tightening at that.Even when the professor enters and starts teaching, he can't seem to focus. His mind spirals with thoughts about Jay and Taehyung. Them together.
“Umm…do you like Jay?” With a lots of courage, Jungkook finally asks Taehyung when the class ends and it's just a few people who are left behind.
Yoongi walked away because he was too hungry and couldn't wait for Taehyung to collect his belongings and Jimin decided to ditch today's class because he was feeling under the weather.“Uh well…no, I don't. It's…you can say it's complicated. We fooled around a few times and that's all. Yoongi hyung was hell bent on making us a couple and stuff so I just said it casually. Didn't give it much of a thought.” Taehyung shrugs as he wraps things up and gets up from his place.
Jungkook still feels lost though. For some reason the weird feeling just settes in him more after what Taehyung said.
And Jungkook seriously doesn't understand what it is, or why he is feeling so heavy. He has barely been friends with Taehyung for three and a half weeks and he's already feeling weird. What's even going on with him?
He doesn't understand. And even if he guesses it, he wouldn't want to voice it out.______
