"What do you mean you won't come?" Blossom cried. Taro bowed her head. All of the danger she'd just put herself in for this blithering dragon and she's not coming?

"I told you, I can't. I've never left the Ice kingdom, and I don't know if I can!" Taro said, she was shaking her head as if Blossom didn't get it. She was right, Blossom didn't get it.

Blossom was shaking. She had the sudden urge to yell at the top of her lungs and throw snowballs at the occasional snowy owl that watched her in their ugly way.

"But Taro... We want you to come. If you don't, you could die! Tundra shows  no mercy, you of all dragons know that." Aqualon said softly, bumping Taro with the side of his tail. Why was he being do kind? After all the things she'd put them through?

Amber was hugging onto Blossoms leg. Without her father, who told them to meet them at the border, where they were waiting, she was a nervous wreck. He'd managed to break the damaged bars and squeeze through with huge difficulty. He wanted to get some supplies, food and probably all he could save from the wreckage of the hut.

So they'd been waiting, and the sun was finally casting some light on the situation. And yet she felt almost as helpless as she had when she was in the cage.

"I want to come, but what if she made me make an enchantment that I can't remember? Like if she made me do it when she drugged me all those times, just like the queen?" she sniffed.

Blossom shook her head. No dragon should be treated like this, not any.

"Taro it's you choice, but whatever you choose, even if it is to stay here, stay safe. Tundra is unpredictable." she warned her, she patted Ambers head as she nuzzled even further into her leg.

She scooped up Amber and put her in between her wings on her back, she must have been tired. She sighed in relief, and started to drift off.

Taro shuffled uncomfortably as if she was trying to make the right decision. She looked behind her and deflated, as if relieved. Blossom followed her gaze and spotted a slightly smaller dot than Tundra winging their way.

As the dragon got closer, it was more obvious to see it was Hailstorm. But he looked desperate, scared even.

"Blossom! You need to get out of here! Your the most wanted dragon in the Ice kingdom! Quick!" he cried as he flew over them and into the distance. He seemed to be in a hurry to get out of the Ice kingdom...

Blossom turned her head from Hailstorm to the direction he came from. A sparkling display of dots started to shine in the dawning sun, each movement they came closer and closer. Blossom froze. A whole army of Icewings were flying her way.

Taro yelped and jumped into the sky, tailing after Hailstorm who was around as small as an owl. Aqualon followed and Blossom was on his heels. She shifted ambers weight and slid her down into her claws. She only mumbled sleepily and squirmed. Blossom hugged her into her chest, just to make sure she was secure.

She could hear roars behind her, but she didn't dare turn her head. All she could do was flap.

                                                                              .   .   .   .

Blossoms wings were aching, but she couldn't stop, not for water, a rest, for nothing. Most of the chasing Icewings had groaned and retreated but still a talon full of dragons still followed.

The sun was high in the sky, casting a shimmering light on the sands bellow, Blossom estimated they were almost at the Sandwing stronghold.

They couldn't stop there though.

Blossom looked down at the snoring dragonet in her arms, she looked so peaceful and cuddly. Amber mumbled sleepily and wriggled in her arms, she often did this as Blossom flew her around.

She looked behind her. Three of the seven Icewings behind them were flying steadily, whereas their accomplices looked as if they were melting. The sun bounced of their shiny scales and Blossom shielded her eyes.

Amber felt like a dead weight in her arms. She grunted as she pulled her along.

How can a dragonet this size be as heavy as a small whale?? she thought desperately.

"Blossom? Do you need any help?" Aqualon asked, soaring to her side. Blossom nodded quickly and he tugged her out of Blossom's arms. Amber grunted but sighed at the touch of her brothers scales.

Blossom bounced higher in the air for a moment, it felt as if someone had just lifted all the air out of her lungs.

She lunged forwards to catch up to Taro, who was desperately flapping. She seemed to be tired, and hot, really really hot.

She spun her head towards Blossom and gave a terrified expression. It made Blossom wince, knowing how scared her sister must be. It was heart wrenching to watch her so scared for her life.

Taro screamed. Blossom turned to see where her eyes were caught. It was Aqualon.

He was fighting off a dragon who was attached to his tail, the other dragon was trying to snatch Amber out of his eyes who was awake and also screeching.

Hailstorm turned and full barrelled into the two dragons, causing them to lose their balance and fall back far enough for the others to make a quick escape.

They took their chance and thrusted themselves through the air. Amber wailed out to her father, crying deep heavy sobs as the Icewing cried to them to keep going as he slashed at the other Icewings.

A sharp pain crawled up Blossoms tail, cold and furious. She looked back and saw her tail engulfed in frost breath. She cried out as her tail weighted her down.

Blossom lost balance and plummeted toward the sands. Taro yelped and plummeted after her.

Taro held out her talon. "Grab on!" she cried, tears dripping down her face. Blossom groped for her talon but the wind was to fierce.

Blossoms wings hit the ground first, the sand crawled though her scales. Then her head hit something hard and everything disappeared. She returned to Dew.

"Took you long enough..." Dew said. Blossom looked at her bewildered.

"DEW! Oh my Moons! I need you to wake me up, please!" Blossom cried as she dashed across the clearing. Her tail wasn't frozen here, but that didn't mean it was in the waking world.

Dew looked over the edge of the book she was reading. "I don't see why I have to do that... I mean it seems pretty plausible that what ever you were doing in the waking world is being done by others."

Blossom stopped in her tracks.

Maybe Dew was right. Maybe the Icewings decided to leave them alone, or maybe Hailstorm scared them off.

"Besides you do know I can't wake you up right? I can't make you hurt or laugh or cold or whatever your funny mind was thinking."

Blossom sighed and sat down and watched as Dew flipped the page, waiting for her talons to glitch and her to wake to a bunch of happy faces. Hopefully.
