Singe stood in attention as the approaching party flapped closer and closer towards the palace. Had been years since the neighbouring tribes had been invited to visit, the last party was the Seawing jury, complaining that they had been fishing all the salmon from the current.

But this meeting was different. This was a educational party, and hopefully, the Rainwings would be able to trust the Sandwing's once more.

Singe flittered his eyes to a squint as the colours of the approaching dragons played upon his vision.

He heard small sniffles as he caught his brother, Smolders, eyes. The blithering camel lump wouldn't stop crying about his girlfriend.

Get a Grip!

Singe knew that his mother would never allow her children to have children of their own, always cautious that no heirs, apart from her daughters were born.

Love was something Singe couldn't comprehend.

He always thought of it as a silly matter, being lovey dovey only made you weak.

Singe turned towards the colourful dragons as they landed, beautiful shades of oranges and greens and blues and purples. Even gold, but only one dragon wore that daring colour.

Her.

A smaller than average dragon, with royal purple scales, with undertones of blue, silver and rosy pink. And flecked across her body was shimmering swirls of Gold and sunshine yellow.

He couldn't drag his eyes away from her. How could he?

She was the most beautiful dragon he'd ever seen. Even their queen, who'd attempted to outshine the rest of the Party,  couldn't draw his eyes away from her.

"Welcome! Welcome, welcome, welcome!" his mother cooed in her soft, intimidating way. Mother had method, she always did her best to look bigger, better and stronger than any dragon in Pyrrhia.

The purple Rainwing rose her head and met Singes eyes with surprise, her eyes widening.

They were dark shades of warm mahogany browns. Almost like his.

She smiled and waved and Singe knew something in him had cracked, changed, a pride had been snuffed out.

This was the beginning of something new.

"Tsk..." Blister scolded behind him, as if she could smell the change in his heart. He took no notice and attempted a wave back.

All of a sudden love didn't feel so silly.
