You used to make me laugh
Like this world was made to last
But the universe brought us to our knees
The wind was in our hair
Kids dancing around everywhere
But now our past is absolutely nowhere
From bedtimes and stories
To houses with two stories
And no room to breathe
From childhood laughter
To news anchors of satire
And people who won't believe
You say that you used to
Know me when I was her son
Said that I used to be fun
You knew me when I used to be young
Made so many mistakes
Dealt with my own earthquake
Said that I used to be fun

I now look like I'm thirty
Always tossing and turning
Too afraid to ever sleep
And everyone worries
No matter if I say that I'm fine
They always see through the lie
And I'll always admire
The dreams of a kid wanting to fight fire
But I think that my dreams have officially expired
Now it's time for us to grow
Because we will always know
That there is no such thing as alone

Took so many risks
But nothing seemed to stick

But now I'm going silent for them to have a chance

Used to dance to numb the fighting voices inside

The nights "wasted" were the ones I had
The most fun and will remember forever
Because it was a choice to self preserve
