[Riley]:
It's always the subject never the matter of the subject
It's the hurting someone over a name and not talking about the hurt
You use your fists like they are grenades in World War I
Because you're afraid that your feelings are part of weakness
It's always the standing up just to cause one hell of a fight
But not tell the truth to the officers who break up the fight
They're seeing as blood splatters the griffin on the banner
Because you're afraid that your feelings are part of the weakness
But you forget that your life is all built up on the little things
And it's caught by the cameras because they're the eyewitness news
[Carter]:
It was just a conversation about being me and yet you hit me
It's hurting someone over your fears that you'll never be accepted
You used your fists as stones to put a bird out of its misery
Because your fear of not being accepted scare you more than the boogeyman
It's always women in the backseat while the men drive us off a road
Their bodies are a precious gift from the Lord from up above
They're seeing as people suffer with heartbreak and internal death
And they sit there and laugh as it's just another episode of their show
And you forget that your life is built on the little moments
Now you record all of your moments like you're the eyewitness news
[Riley]:
It's an addiction that you are afraid of losing
It's one fight that you know you won't be losing
Your eyes glued to the screen because a moment might pass
But remember that you can change what happens
If you just put the phone down and look in the looking glass
[Carter]:
Your time might be running out and you smile
Now you don't see a wife or get to have a child
You're caught up in some pointless mobile game
Addicted to screen, all it's doing is causing pain
Yet you're caught up doing the same old things
[Riley]:
So go ahead and free yourself before it's too late
Remember your life before the blue light captured you
Please let yourself let go of the reigns and free yourself
Because this world needs you present and the time is now
We all miss you and always hoped for your presence return
Maybe it's for the best to be forgotten in a moment of time
Now it's time to lay down my fight and become one with the chair
[Carter]:
Maybe it was just a mistake a few short years ago in 2013
But now it's caught on camera like you're the eyewitness news
