Time had passed, since he had dreamed of that man outside of the tank. So much time, he could no longer remember if it was real, or simply just a dream. Despite all that, he was now eight years old.
He had received simple schooling, which was far to easy for him. He was able to remember things for long periods of time, to the absolute smallest details. He had teachers come to his room, and he was taught how to read, write, math, talk, and problem solving skills. He was also taught battle strategies, which he was also very good at.
He would eat, sleep, read, work, and train his body in only his room. Different teachers would come in everyday, and worked with him in different ways. The only time he would get to leave his five by six multipurpose bedroom was for the daily check ups with a doctor.
During these checkups, he'd get shots, had his arm squeezed by some sort of band, and have his lungs listened too. Sometimes they would make him drop his uniform pants, and they would make him cough. He did not like that one.
The only people he'd ever seen was the teachers, orderlies, and doctors. He'd never seen any other kids, despite all of the adults talking about large groups of them.
There was always eyes on him, and every time he'd walk by a group of orderlies or nurses, they'd always whisper about him. They thought he never heard, but he always did.
"Look at him."
"What a freak, black hair? How is that even possible?"
"I heard they killed the Tech that screwed up that things vial."
"That Unit will never make it past the first rounds."
"Why wouldn't they have just killed it in the gestation phase?"
"They should just put it out of it's misery?"
"What a freak. The exterminators should kill it."
"Why are we wasting so many resources on some mistake like that?"
"We should keep it separated from the rest of that things Class. It might scare the others."
He heard every single word, for eight years of his set in stone routine.
He'd wake up, and eat breakfast. Then a Trainer would come in, and have him do exercises to build up his body and stamina. Then a shower, then lunch. After lunch, a Teacher would come in, and teach him regular school subjects until an orderly came, and walked him out of his room. At this time, walking through the hallways is when he always heard the whispers, and felt every slideways glances. The orderlies would often take him to the Doctors, and get his daily checkup. After, the orderlies would walk him back to his room, and most often then not. Beat him.
There was one orderly who hated him the most. Tyler the Orderly. He was the biggest, and strongest of all the orderlies. And had a favorite target to beat on.
As he went back into his room, Tyler the Orderly was standing in the back, with a wicked grin. "Hello freak."
He swallowed, then tried to back out of his room. But the door slid closed behind him, and he heard the other orderly laughing on the other side.
"BLK-001..." Tyler the Orderly said, as he slowly walked up to him. "Just so you know. Everyone thinks you are a freak. A complete and utter mistake, who should have been thrown into the incinerator when you were created. But now, since Father has taken a liking to you. We all have to deal with you, even though nobody wants too. Can't you see the problem with that? Answer me freak!"
