Some time later, everyone was fully healed from the first round of Synchronization Training. Kade's hand was fully healed. All the joints and tendons were repaired, and felt like it didn't collapse into it's self, destroying all the tendons, cartilage, and bones. Good as new.

Doctor Ann came in to do a check up on him. "How's my favorite dumbass?"

"Good," Kade replied, and sat at the edge of his bed. He did feel good, Sky had spent the night again last night, and left a few minutes before Ann arrived.

"I see BLU-888 was here again," Ann said as she set her tablet down on the retractable table.

"Wh—how'd you know?!" Kade said, taken aback.

"You just told me idiot," Ann smiled smugly. "I won't say anything, but I won't be able to cover you two if you get caught. So be carful. I don't even know what the punishment is for getting caught sneaking off to another Initiates room."

"We'll be carful," Kade said.

"What...do you two do in here? Do we need to have a talk?" Ann said with a face that said she'd rather do anything but that.

"Talk?" Kade asked. "We just read, and she shows me her art. We talk and watch the galaxy."

"Oh...phew..." Ann said. "No other stuff?"

"Well we do play around sometimes. Joke and mess with each other, teasing and stuff," Kade said. "Are you going to do my check up or keep grilling me?"

"Sorry," Ann said, and she put her hands up. "Oh hey! I got you something. I saw that the Orderlies never got you your birthday present requests so... boom!"

Ann brought a box out and it slapped against the floor. It was stacked full of books, plus newer versions of his books he already had.

"No way!" Kade gasped and flew to the box. It had more Percy Jackson, more Grey Walker, more everything! Kade was so happy and overwhelmed by this niceness from Ann. He started to cry, he couldn't hold it in, it just came out all at once.

"Woah... hey um," Ann said as she stood there nervous. "I didn't mean to make you cry! I can take them back or—"

"—No!" Kade said and flung himself over the box. "No! I love it! It's just.... I don't know what's wrong with me..."

"Maybe..." Ann said, as she knelt down on the other side of the box. "Maybe you are just so use to being mistreated and hated for no reason. That this one simple nice act...brought you to tears? I don't know, I'm not a doctor."

They looked at each other, then both started to laugh.

"I mean I'm not a mental doctor!" Ann laughed. "I can assure you I got all the PHD's necessary for becoming a doctor for Meka Pilots. Surprisingly it's a lot less then you'd think." Ann laughed again to a nervous looking Kade.

After his checkup, Doctor Ann led him to the Synchronization Test rooms. Everyone was lined up outside of their doors already.

"Back to your testing," Ann said, as they stood a bit away from the hallway from the others.

"If they are simulators, how come they hurt so much?" Kade asked.

Ann looked at him, full of confusion and shock. "How did...you know?"
