THE ENDGAME
Twenty | The Plan
•••HAVING CASHMERE IN TWO WAS STRANGE, TO SAY THE LEAST. KATNISS DIDN'T SPEAK TO HER. She avoided her truthfully. While the two of them may have a similar end goal in rescuing Fleur, they seem to disagree on everything else. Cashmere didn't care for the people. She didn't care about propos. She just seemed eager to fight. She reminded Katniss of Johanna just a bit toned down.
"You doing okay?"
Katniss looked up to see Boggs standing there. She offered him a small smile and a nod. She had been glad when he came to Two with her. She didn't trust many people but she knew she could trust Boggs. He seemed to try to see the best in people. He reminded her of Fleur in that way. She could understand why the two of them had got along so well.
"Yeah," Katniss answers.
Boggs nods as he looks at her, "We shouldn't be in Two too much longer. Once we settle the issue of the Nut then we can head back to Thirteen and begin planning the assault on the Capitol."
Katniss looks down. She didn't care about taking the Capitol. She didn't care about killing Snow. She just wanted to know that Fleur was safe. That was her priority.
"I'll lead the team myself."
Katniss looks up at him curiously.
"To rescue Fleur," Boggs tells her, "I wouldn't trust anyone else with a mission like that."
Katniss's mouth twists, "Do you even think she's alive?"
"There's a reason Snow wanted her. He knows what she means to you. Its good and bad. It means that he won't kill her, but the worst part is that there are a lot of things worse than death."
"How much do you trust Coin?" Katniss asks.
Boggs shrugs, "She's a good leader. I can't say I always agree with her decision or her tactics, but I believe she has good intentions."
Katniss doesn't say anything she simply nods.
"Do you disagree?" Boggs asks her.
Katniss knows she has to have tact when she's talking about Coin. She doesn't believe Boggs will run back and tell her, but she still knows better.
"I think I need someone to blame and it's easier to blame those in charge," Katniss responds.
Boggs places a hand on her shoulder and gives it a gentle squeeze, "I promise you Katniss, we'll get her back."
Katniss places her hand atop his and gives it a gentle squeeze, "I know."
They assemble bright and early to take on the issue of the Nut. Katniss doesn't know why she's there since she doesn't have much strategy to offer. Cashmere is there as well. She's familiar with the Commander from Two who was a middle-aged woman named Lyme. She was over six feet and heavily muscled. They greet each other exchanging small talk and Katniss wonders how the two of them knew each other. It takes a moment, but it clicks that she's in the presence of another victor.
Unlike Finnick, Cashmere, and Fleur, Lyme kept a low profile. Katniss wondered what her punishment was after the games. What did Snow do to keep control over her?
Lyme gives a presentation of the Nut before questions begin. Hours pass as they try to conjure a plan to take the Nut. Katniss stands quietly as she listens to the ideas being thrown out and watches as frustration begins to fill the room.
"Do we need to take the Nut, or can we disable it?" Cashmere asks.
"That would be a step in the right direction," Beetee responds, "What do you have in mind?"
