Chapter XI - Likes Me?

(Your P.O.V)

Being back home has been good for me since the argument between Charlie and I. Luci and I have been working on preparing the Manor for the annual ball we have after each Extermination. It isn't for another two weeks, but it is something that I can't wait for to happen. "We need to send the invitations out soon. We do need a head count for the ball." I reminded Lucifer as he was working at his workstation, clearly avoiding work yet again. "I know Rose, and I will send them out soon." He said and I looked at him, pulling his head from his concentration. "The ball is in two weeks, we don't have that kind of time." I reminded him and he sighed but nodded his head, he stopped his building and walked out of the room. I locked it and followed him. 

We went into his actual office where I had the stack of invitations waiting to be sealed and prepared to go. "All you have to do is sign and seal, I took care of everything else." I told him and he sighed in relief. "Thank you darling." He said and I blushed at the darling nickname, ever since I came back he's been like this. The different pet names have been borderline crossing that friendship line that I wish to cross. But I will not push that in the slightest. "Y-You're welcome." I stuttered and I could hear his smirk on his face. 

So we worked slowly to get these signed and sealed before dinner. He signed each invite and I sealed each one in their own black and gold embroidered envelope with a blood-red seal that showed the Morningstar Crest. This took us a long time, about three whole hours, but we were able to get it done at the least. "That'll do it." I said and we both sighed in relief. "Thank fuck, if I have to sign one more thing today, I'm going to chop off my wrist." Lucifer muttered and I chuckled. "But you can't, it'll just grow back." I reminded him, and he groaned at that painful reminder. Angels can regrow body parts unless it is destroyed by an Angelic Weapon, such as an Angelic Spear or Holy Light. 

I pulled him from his chair and his face landed in my chest, making us both blush at that part. We separated but walked to the dining room, and I noticed on Lucifer's left hand, his golden wedding band was gone. It shocked me that he didn't have it on anymore, it also worried me greatly since he never takes it off. We sat down at the dining table and the servants brought out our plates.

(Lucifer P.O.V)

I knew that Rose had noticed my wedding ring wasn't on anymore, the divorce was progressing well. I had given Lilith a third of the acquired assets we gained over the many centuries of marriage, including our summer Manor in the Envy Ring. "Luci, where's your ring at?" Rose asked me and I looked at her sapphire blue eyes that held the heavenly sky within them. "I took it off, Lilith isn't coming back so it is time I accepted that." I explained and she looked at me stunned, like she never thought that I would get to that point. "Excuse me." She said and walked out of the room, I was heavily confused since I thought that she would be happy for me, happy to have understood that I couldn't wait for her to come back. 

I knew she needed space, I've dealt with plenty of times like this from her, Lilith, and Charlie. I finished my dinner and headed after her. There is one place I knew she would tend to go whenever she was upset, and that was the garden. 

When I walked out there, immediately I heard crying so I followed it to find her. The sight broke me, I didn't think me doing what I thought was the right call would hurt her. Unless there's something more to this that I don't know. I calmly walked over to her and she looked up and wiped the tears from her eyes, but I wiped the ones on her cheek. "Why are you crying?" I asked and she hugged me tightly, I was frozen from shock. "I'm crying for you, I know you love her and now you have to move on." She said and I quickly shushed her and whispered into her ear. "I am not upset about this at all. You've seen how the relationship was, it was only a matter of time before I would've done this. But I had some motivation to do this sooner." I told her and she looked at me puzzled, I chuckled and cupped her left cheek and she leaned into the touch. 

"What was the motivation?" She asked and I smiled. "All will be told soon." I vaguely said and she was confused, she tilted her head and I immediately though I saw a rainbow go over her head. "Alright." She said and I smirked, wonderful. 

(3rd P.O.V)

As the two looked at one another, both had one singular thought come into their heads. "Does he/she like me?"
