"Come on Cira! We're going to be late!"

"Five more minutes!," I whined.

Ugh!

Today was the day I had to go dress shopping with my sister for her prom.

Unlike any normal teenage girl, I loathed shopping.
I absolutely have no interest in keeping up with the latest fashion fads, even if it means fitting in.
It wouldn't matter even if I did.

However, my sister does.

Even though we are dirt poor, my sister always finds a way to keep up with the latest trends.

She spends the better half of her free time, and our month's money for food, pillaging through the town's thrift stores for all the discount clothing she can get her hands on.

"CIRA!"

"What!"

"Get your ass out of bed! You promised me that you'd help me pick out a dress!"

"Noooo! You blackmailed me into promising you that I'd help you find a dress!"

I guess that's what happens when you stay out past curfew and have an older sister with ulterior motives.

"Tomato, tomahto!"

"I'll be down in ten your highness," I sneered, squeezing as much sarcasm into "your highness" as humanly possible.

Cierra can be such a pain in the ass.
She's my sister/built in best friend and I love her, but that doesn't stop me from planning her death from time to time.

I'm just kidding.
Only like three or so times.
Moving on.

In my frustration of having to get up at the ungodly hour of FIVE IN THE MORNING, I threw on whatever was on my clothes chair.

You know exactly what chair I'm talking about.

That one designated spot or chair in your room that you dump all your clothes on because you're too lazy to put it in the hamper or hang up in your closet.
Yeah, that chair.

On the clothes chair today was a huge grey Nike hoodie, a pair of ripped light wash skinny jeans, and my mint green Nikes.

Yes, shoes end up on the clothes chair too.
Don't judge.

"Are you done yet!"

"Yep! I just need to grab my phone and I'll be good to go"

"Hurry up or you have to walk there!"

"Yeah, yeah. I'll be down in a minute"

I wasn't even half done.
I still needed to do my hair and brush my teeth.

Oh! And put on deodorant too!

I heard the purr of my sister's station wagon outside my window.

I quickly swiped deodorant under my arms, shoved a piece of mint gum in my mouth, and grabbed a pile of elastics from my bureau.

Oh wait! PHONE!

I tugged it off the charger and stuffed it into my pocket.

I sprinted down the stair case, trying to simultaneously braid my hair and stuff my left foot into my shoe.

The things I go through for my sister.

*buzz* *buzz* *buzz*

"I wonder who it could be?,"
I thought to myself, mentally rolling my eyes.

It's going 2 rain so bring a coat & the house keys in your purse!

Okay, keys and coat.

Keys.
And.
Coat.
