"Stay outside"
"Whatever you say princess," he mocked as he gave a wink.
I just shot him an eye roll as I went inside my house.
"Mom?," I called out.
She should be home by now.
"Mom," I yelled.
Still no answer.
A sudden crash came from upstairs."MOM!!"
I instantly whipped out my claws and fangs as I creeped up the steps. Shuffling of boxes met my ears as I listened for signs of an intruder. Slowly, I opened the door to my mom's bedroom.
Broken glass all over the floor.
I let out a low warning growl.
The noise was coming from my bedroom. I kicked the door in, ready to fight."CIRA! MY GOODNESS!"
"Oh my god! MOM! You're okay!," I yelled relieved to see her okay.
Her eyes went wide and she picked up a knife she had been using to open boxes.
"Stay back!" she trembled.
"Mom? It's me," I let out a wine of hurt.
"Stay back! I don't know what the hell you are, but you're not my daughter! Not anymore!," tears began pouring from her eyes.
What was she talking about? I looked around the room until my eyes landed on my wolfed out reflection in the mirror. I lightly touched my fangs and scrutinized my face as if I'd never seen it before. I mean I haven't actually. I've never seen my face like this until now.
"Shit," I let out a growl of pain.
My hands rushed to meet where a knife now lay buried in my abdomen. My mom darted out of the room as I collapsed onto the floor.
Everything went dark.

The aroma of fresh pasta sauce roused me from my sleep. I sat up only to feel pangs of pain radiate from my stomach.
"Ahhhhh," I hissed.
I got up again, this time more slowly, and made my way from my living room couch to the kitchen. The smell of the food beckoned me and made my stomach rumble in approval.
To my surprise lab jerk was the one cooking. A towel lay across his shoulder as he stirred the sauce. I let a small grin form on my lips at the sight.
"So he can cook" I mused
"You're supposed to be resting"
"I'm fine mo-"
I paused as what happened rushed back to my memory and the sadness crept back in.
"Hey, are you hungry?" he asked concerned.
"Um. Yeah. I could eat," I chuckled out.
"Just sit and I'll finish up"
"I'm not five. Let me at least get the plates"
Thoughtlessly I stretched up to pull down two plates when the sharp pains sent me to my knees.
Not even thirty seconds later he was at my side.
"Hey, you should rest" he cooed softly.
His hand stroked my hair in an attempt to comfort me.
"I'm fi-"
My breath hitched as I realized just how close my face was to his in my turn to scold him. I could see every detail of his eyes. They were green, but not just any green. It was a green that reminded me of the forrest I played in as a kid. It made me feel safe.
His eyes traveled to my lips then met my gaze.
"You never told me your name," I choked out.
"Luke," he sighed whilst hoisting me up into his arms.
He laid me back on the couch and threw a blanket over me.
"I'll bring the food to you"
"Hey" I called out to him.
He stopped but didn't turn around.
"Yeah princess"
"I like that name. Luke. It's a good name"
Even though I couldn't see his face I could feel a light grin form on his lips as he wordlessly walked back to the kitchen.
