Chapter Three - Rival (First Step, Method)

Sanemi POV:

It's been 2 days since I found Giyu's diary, and I'm stuck on what method to use to eliminate Rengoku. Of course there are many options, but I want to choose one that will ensure that he will not interfere with mine and Tomioka's love.

God I need help, why are there so many useless options?

I could use:

- Suffocation? No, then no one would believe a demon did it

- Give Uzui a husband? But that doesn't stop him from committing adultery..

- Kill him during a mission? No, what are the chances of us getting a mission together?

- Ruin their friendship? Rengoku is too kind, they'll make up anyway

This is harder than I thought. If this were anyone else, like Kanroji, this would be easy. But this is Kyojuro Rengoku, the kind, loud, half deaf flame Hashira.

I need more information on him. His file is nearly empty.

Rengoku POV:

Ever since last Monday ,
(The day Sanemi found Tomioka's Diary)

I've felt... watched. Of course, It's common for there to be a Kakushi Crow around observing the Hashira.

But with this, it's different. Like a person is watching me. In or out of my estate. Almost all the time except when I'm with Tengen or on a mission.

It's becoming an issue.

Sanemi POV:

My plan is working, Rengoku is starting to realise that he's being watched. I just have to wait for him to confront me. Then, all suspicions are gone.

I'm following my rival through the bamboo forest, down the pebble path that flows through it. I can feel the tension rising, He's slowly beginning to panic.

His eyes are darting more often, his steps are faster, harder. I just have to wait.

Lash out.

Stop trying to calm down.

Finally, he snapped.

"WHOSE THERE?" Rengoku shouted gripping his sword handle with a slightly shaking hand. That's when I step in.

"Rengoku? Are you alright?" I say, walking toward him as if I was just walking a couple metres behind him.

"Oh... Shinazugawa. It's you." His calming down ever so slightly.

"Yeah... I've been walking a couple metres behind you before I heard you shout.
What's going on?" I say, my acting skills are coming in handy.

"Have.." Rengoku stutters, here it comes.... "H-have you been... Following me lately?"

I act confused. "Uh, no? No offence but I have better things to do."

"Oh.. it's just that, I feel watched lately."

"Ah you don't know? The Master has set us up with a Kakushi Crow to occasionally keep an eye on us, should ease your mind knowing what follows you."

Then I whistle, my crow flies down landing onto my shoulder.

"See?"

"Oh alright," he says, taking a deep breath.

"Thank you Shinazugawa. I think I'll be leaving now"

He said while turning the opposite way, back towards the Corp'.

"Happy to help."

I say while a walk away, waving back to him. I smile, knowing that tracking him will be easier now.
Also this way any suspicious behaviour will be covered. For now.

Now, all thats left, is Elimination.

I dove off into thought, still not certain about when method to use, until I reached the end of the path.

Sitting by the koi fish pond, both knees up watching the fish swim, I see my darling Tomioka. What is he doing here? I've never seen him here before, but that really doesn't matter.

My eyes lock on him as I admire his beauty. He's so dreamy..

I subconsciously walk over to him, perching next to him, one knee up to cover my blush. I wonder what he's thinking about, he seems so lost in thought. Must be real deep.

Tomioka POV:

Koi fish.... Koi fish..... Koi fish..... Koi fish are swimming...... Koi fish.... I want Onigiri.... Koi fish.... Koi fish..... Shinazugawa fish... Sanemi koi... Wait..... SHINAZUGAWA??

I turn to look at him, he's looking at me too. He's so handsome. God, and sexy too. I want him. I really need him.

I've loved you since I first laid eyes on you Shinazugawa, your scars, your eyes, your hair, those are what stood out to me the most, and those are the things that are my favourite when it comes to you.

But, I can't think like this. Not now. He simply hates me, nothing I can do about it.

I turn my head back to the koi fish pond.... koi fish... koi fish-

Sanemi POV:

He turned his head Bach away from me. Did he lose interest? Or maybe he's just tired. His eyes, I see him. He looks hurt. Does my face hurt him? Is he thinking about how much of a shit person I was to him?

I'm sorry my love, I really am.

Giyu, he's so perfect, I'm sorry for being so rude to you for all that time. You're smart, beautiful and talented. You're always be beautiful in my eyes.

I turn back to the Koi fish, not really focusing on them, just enjoying Tomiokas' company. The silence isn't awkward, but refreshing in a way, like we don't have to communicate when together. I can only imagine how strong our connection will be in the future.

As we watch the sun set over the horizon, I finally relax, after a tiring, but resourceful day. Just for him. My love, Tomioka.
