Chapter 17

(Sofia POV)

I looked down at Hugo and couldn't believe this was happening. He looked up at me desperately waiting for my answer and I breathed out, "Yes." He looked up at his eyes wide, "I'm going to need you to repeat that." Of course he would, "Yes Hugo, I will marry you." He stood up lifting me up and spinning me around and I couldn't help but laugh. As he was placing me on the ground my hands wrapped around his face and the gap between us got smaller and smaller before I leaned in and finally kissed him.

(Sofia POV)

As we separated Hugo took the ring out of the box and slipped it on my finger, "It is beautiful." I whispered looking down at the ring. It was a simple setting with a large diamond and two amethysts on each side. "It was my mother's, my father wanted you to have it." I smiled as he said that. I thought back to what he had said before as he proposed, "You mentioned something about your responsibilities as crown prince moving up the timeline. Exactly how soon do we need to get married?" He let out a nervous laugh as he started putting his hand through his hair, "Well my father really talked to the advisors and got as much time as possible and..." "Hugo how much time?" He sighed, "We got about a week." My eyes widened, "A-A-A week." He nodded. I took a deep breath, "Ok, ok" I began repeating, "We are going to need Amber back as soon as possible. She is the only person I know who can plan a wedding that quickly. We're also going to have to talk to our parents, send invitations, find a band, move all my stuff to your palace, I have to contact the other Protectors..." I began to spiral. Hugo grabbed both my wrists, "Hey, we got this. We can definitely use Amber's help I'm sure she probably has all the details planned for your wedding already. I already got your father's permission and he no doubt spoke to your mother. Of course of friends will try to come. We understand if they can't but I have a feeling that it is still going to be a big crowd. We are going to handle all of it soon. Before, we do though, I want to ask you for one more thing: I would like to spend 4, no 5 stress free minutes with my fiancée. Can I have that?" I nodded.

We sat down on a bench in the gazebo. I kicked my feet up and cuddled into Hugo's side. He wrapped an arm around me and we sat together as I looked down at my ring. "Hey Sofia," I looked up at him, "are you sure this is what you want? I don't want you to think that you have to do anything." I laughed at the question, "Hugo, you are the one person who unconditionally makes me feel happy outside of my family. I don't care what that life entails as long as you are in it." He smiled at me, "God, I love you." He leaned down and kissed me.

(Hugo POV)

I don't think I have ever been as happy as I am right now. With Sofia in my arms, my family ring on her finger and knowing that we are going to be with each other for the rest of our lives and that she wants this as much as I do. I thank whoever sent her on my path as I think about all the ways we could have possibly never met each other, if her mother hadn't married the king, if she had been so discouraged she never tried out for flying derby, if James never hurt his wrist and I didn't fly in the Flying Crown, if she wasn't in the Ice Dancing class, there were so many potential lifetimes where we would have never found each other. I am just happy that someone was looking out for us and knew just how much the selfless princess needed a selfish prince to put her first.

(Amber POV)

I received word that it was safe to come home. "Hey Desmond, it looks like I can go home soon." He sighed as he turned to me, "Do you have to go already." "Well yes I am the Crown Princess but, that doesn't mean I have to go back alone." He blushed furiously as I said this and I couldn't help but smile. "Hey Des," "Yeah Amber?" "How would you feel about one day coming to rule Enchancia?" His blush became a deeper shade of crimson, "Amber you are not suggesting we get married now are you?" I laughed and shook my head, "No, not right now but someday down the line. Do you think that you could be happy?" He smiled and came closer to me, "Would you be there?" I laughed, "Yes, that is kind of a requirement." "Then it sounds perfect." I loved moments like this with Desmond. He was still the quiet, sweet prince he was at Royal Prep but, he had grown more confident around me and he knew what to say that would make me swoon. "Will you take me home?" I asked. "Always" He said taking my hand.
