RAYA ALLESTER ;MIST                                                                                                              September 19, 2022

It was the next day after that fiasco, and I was sitting in history trying to not fall asleep.

"Miss Allerster! Wake up!" she said, as I lifted my head from the small cold desk," This is school, not time to take a nap."

"Sorry Miss Rold, I'll try not to fall asleep in your boring class next time," I said with as much sarcasm as I could.

"Miss Allester! The Principal's office, now!"

Tiredly, I got up and walked out of there without a care in the world.

The long walk to the Principal's office gave me enough time to think about what happened last night. Inferno was weird. Every time we meet in our little "stumbles", he's not as mean as he has been. Like he never gives me any serious injuries or makes sure I can get home. Not that I don't mind him making it easier, I just want to know why.

When I got to the Principal's office, she wasn't there. So I sat in the small uncomfortable chairs outside her office. The room was quiet except for the click-clack of typing in the other room. The room itself wasn't too big. There were a few chairs, a little water fountain, a plant in the corner, and a small table with some magazines. Since I thought I would be waiting for a while, I decided to just close my eyes while I waited.

"Miss Allester, the Principal is ready to see you." the assistant said without much care.

I got up from the chair and made my way into her office. The office was about the same size as the other room I was just in. There was a desk in the middle, with one chair in the back, and two in the front. The rest of the room was just some cabinets and a few plants to add a little color.

"Miss Allester, I understand that you have been called because of falling asleep in class? Is that correct?"

"Yes"

"Ok, look, I understand that everything at home isn't the best, so I'll let this one slide," she said with sincere kindness in her eyes" but on one condition,"

"Yeah?"

"You get some sleep. I know it's been hard since your parents died, and taking care of a toddler, it must be taking a toll on you with the school. So, tomorrow, you don't have to go to school, I want you to get some sleep. Please."

I was surprised, to say the least. Recently, all people have been doing is just ignoring me. It was great that she actually cared. Since she was new and had just started the job, I didn't know anything about her. But I hadn't expected this.

"Yeah, sure," I said.

"Great, I'll see you on Friday so I can give you the work that you might miss. But, I'll try to make sure your teachers know to go light on the work. Feel better, Raya."

'Thank you, I'll be sure to try and get some sleep."

"Good, now you go home and I'll tell your teachers to just carry on."

I thanked her again and walked out. Who knew there were still kind people in the world?
