Ep. 28 - Prom Night

Golf Ball's underground factory was especially noisy today, the hum of the machinery and tools Tennis Ball was using, combined with the loud and raspy voices of the factory's owner and her interviewee surely contributed.

"Hm..." Golf Ball analysed Pillow's note, which transcribed everything Bracelety testified. She then whispered to her helper, "This lines up perfectly with what Match told Basketball, even the part with David repeating 'Aw' like crazy... but that doesn't really give us new information"

The two exchanged glares, then looked back at Bracelety, who sat on the floor as she inspected the factory with her curious eyes.

"...Hm, I got an idea" Pillow said before heading to the corkboard across the room, with the evidence board facing the wall to avoid Bracelety from seeing it.

Golf Ball raised an eyebrow, questioning her plan as she came back with a few pictures, "Say, Bracelety" Pillow caught her attention, "Do you recognize these images?" She asked her as she extended her hand, showing the fangirl some of the pictures Two had taken while on the EXIT.

Bracelety inspected them: Four's framed picture of them and X together, and the mysterious missing-texture wall that lied beyond the EXIT's elusive back door.

"That... uh..." Bracelety picked up the latter and looked at it intensely, "... I don't... I don't think that's how that looks like"

"Hm?" Pillow questioned as Golf Ball scrambled to pick up her notepad and start writing notes herself.

"No, it isn't!" Bracelety nodded to herself, "I remember Liy tore down those planks and opened it for us to escape... the classroom... after..."

Pillow raised an eyebrow, "After...?"

Bracelety's expression of clarity quickly turned into one of heavy confusion as she put a palm over her own forehead.

Pillow noticed how that trail was going nowhere and asked another question, "Well, if it didn't look like that, how did it look like?"

"Uh... like... a creepy school hallway...?" Bracelety didn't seem sure of her own answer, "No, hold on... I don't...

...N- No, I'm getting confused, maybe I just took a peek or something, memories get all mashed up when you spend every day in the same classroom you know?"

The two researchers looked at each other, confused, before Golf Ball spoke up, "Can you say for certain that whatever lied behind that door changed from a hallway to... whatever the hell this is?" she asked, pointing at the photo.

"...Maybe ask someone else? Just to be sure?" Bracelety shrugged.

"Hmph..." Golf Ball's eyebrows furrowed, "Pillow, you're still in okay terms with Liy, please ask her about it"

Pillow nodded, "If she escapes Evil Leafy, of course"

"Right..." Golf Ball turned to face the interviewee once more, "Uh, anyways, thanks for your answers"

"YOU'RE WELCOME!" Bracelety replied, regaining her smile. Pillow proceeded to lead her out of the underground factory.

As the two left their range of view, Tennis Ball walked towards her partner as Two, who had observed the interview while invisible, popped back into visibility.

"These interviews don't seem like they're going anywhere" Two said, a bit hopeless.

Golf Ball sighed, "It's the best we've got... it just feels like we're so close into clicking the pieces together, there HAS to be an explanation as to how Four knew you were coming, or the Announcer was coming, or why X is missing!" she said, a bit distressed as Pillow walked back downstairs, "Someone HAS to have the key testimony we're looking for!"
