You never really know anyone below the surface. The person you are working for and with might have a very secret life you don't want to know. So, be careful with your words and be respectful towards people especially strangers.
People always think of serial murderers/killers as men and rarely women. Childhood traumatic experiences such as rape and violent family have been known to make people change into something sinister. They usually have double lives, one they willingly show others and the other self they don't want people to know. They either break down and remember their brutal experiences from someone at night or recreate them, have the urge to inflict pain on others and make them feel the pain they feel worse than what they feel. You will never know unless you dig deeper down the surface.
