Safe and Sound

Chapter 5

I woke up to the sound of a door opening and a voice shouting at me, "Time to get up sleepy head! Big day today!" I knew that was Donald. His voice was super peppy this morning.

I got out of my very comfortable bed and started to get ready for the day. I put on the clothes I was wearing that day. It consisted of a fluffy white top that and a pair of black capris. Yes, I know; very lazy, but I was going to die right? No. I was going to win. I put my hair in a French fishtail and led it down the rest of my hair.

I walked out to the lobby car and found Liam in a deep conversation with Peeta. I walked in and sat down in the spot next to Liam. "Good morning, everyone," I said in a very monotone voice with a hint of sarcasm. Everyone nodded their heads at me. I got up to get breakfast because I was starving, I didn't eat since last night! Okay, that sounded like I was selfish, but I was at times. I started thinking of all the times I was selfish. There was a lot. Then Katniss started talking to me,

"Hey May. How'd you sleep?" For one thing the beds were magical so I slept like a baby, but I didn't want to say that. I would sound all weird. Instead I started with, "I slept good. Beds are comfy, so that's a plus." My corners of my mouth lifted a bit. Katniss just nodded.

"That's always good. They do have great beds here. And food," she laughed. I did a bit too. This wasn't too hard. I didn't know that making friends was this easy. Did I consider Katniss a friend? I only met her just yesterday, but I felt like I knew her forever. It was weird.

"What are you ladies talking about?" Peeta joined the conversation. Liam looked over at me also. I smiled at him, genuinely and he smiled back the same way. I think I was starting to fancy him a bit more, but that all had to go away because I could never be with him because one of us would be dead or both.

"Just the bed and food," Katniss stated, very casually like it was normal. I guess it was normal for her. She did win this once, so she would go through it again. We all had a good laugh.

I started to eat my breakfast, and my goodness, Katniss was right! This food was heavenly! "I see you like the food," Peeta pronounced. I giggled and wiped my hands and face with a napkin. "That's good because you better get used to it!" He laughed. We all smiled a bit.

A few seconds later, Donald came rushing in with a new schedule for the day. We all groaned when he started talking about the plans for today. "Hey. I don't get paid to hear you complain. Just listen and you will get through it," he explained. I started to like him a bit more I guess, especially for a Capitol citizen. They were annoying as heck. "Today we will be arriving at the Capitol. Tonight will be the chariots, so there will be a stylist to meet you, and tomorrow we will have interviews with Caesar Flickerman. Right now, you can relax till we get to the Capitol, then a group will groom you enough that you can see the artist. Then he will dress you in the outfit that will represent your district. I will explain later what will happen afterwards. Now, just relax. Thank you and see you later tonight," Donald had finished an walked out of the room. Liam and I both looked at Peeta and Katniss as if asking for a better explanation. They both laughed and explained it in ways we could understand.

After they explained, we nodded and started to relax, as if a bit of weight was lifted off our shoulders.

"I remember Cinna. I hope you guys have him. He was my only friend that really understood me," Katniss confessed. I felt her pain. The only person I could trust was Jack. I never really trusted anyone else because it wasn't worth it. "He understood the concept of being in this and how it isn't really an achievement because most people congratulate you. He never saw the point in that," she explained further. I looked out the window and I think what I saw was the Capitol. I got up to get a better look. I headed over to the window and looked out. It was huge. The window suddenly got dark and I knew we were going through a tunnel. Liam joined me at the window. When we came out of the tunnel, the citizens of the Capitol came into view. They were waving at us and chanting our names. We both waved and smiled. They got even louder.

We were soon led into rooms where we would strip and put on a robe. There was a group surrounding me and they started to wax my body and made sure they left no hair left on my body. They also picked my eyebrows to perfect them. I was soon led into a room where there was only a table and a chair. I felt very self-conscious because I was only in a robe. I sat on top of a table and waited for my stylist to come. When he came through the door, he looked interesting. He had all black clothes on, had colored skin, and had gold eyeliner on his top lid. He smiled at me and held out his hand, "Cinna, nice to meet you," I shook his hand. He looked trustworthy. I think this was the designer that Katniss was talking about.

"So what are you going to do with me?" I asked, curious what he was going to do.

"Well, since your district is obsidian mining, I had a few ideas," Cinna stated, smiling at me mischievously. I suddenly felt scared. What was he going to dress me up as?

A/N DUN DUN DUN!!!!! Cliffhanger!!!! What do you guys think she going to be dressed up as?? Heh heh... I'm so mean. At least it's not that bad of a cliffhanger as some stories.
