I was stalking my way back to where Scylar was sleeping his little happy arse off. Liam was following me. I sighed at the thought of him leaving me so soon. This past couple of weeks have felt short and long at times. I wanted it to still go on, but end at the same time. That doesn't make any sense... Oh well.
I looked behind me and Liam was trudging along behind me. I really felt sorry for him. He was most likely going to die.
There was only three more tributes left and trust me, I was beyond terrified of the outcome, but I can't avoid it. So I do what I know how to do; I push on and hope for the best.
That is exactly what I do 'till I get to where Scylar was. His features scared me to death. He was handsome, I'll give him that, but that's pretty much all he has. He's a Career, so that obviously means his personality was wicked.
I was just a couple of yards away from his face and I took a big breath. Liam decided to take the first move. He inched forward and was mere centimeters away from his face, but something happened that surprised us all. Scylar's eyes shot open and his dagger was pushed into Liam's chest. He threw Liam to the floor away from him and I watched in horror. His eyes were on Liam and his back was turned to me. This was my chance. I lurched forward with my knife, screaming curse words at him and stabbed Scylar in the back repeatedly.
He let out a strained yelp and fell to the floor. I stood over him with my knife in hand and knelt down. His eyes filled with terror and I put my hands around his neck and strangled him. As a defense move, he put his hands on me, trying to get me to stop, but I was determined to kill him. It was only like that for a few moments 'till his arms went limp and fell to the ground. At that a cannon went off.
I let out a big huff. I scrambled over to Liam. He was coughing out blood onto the ground. My face had dropped with sympathy and worry. I sat next to him and put his head in my lap. I was brushing his hair gently. He closed his eyes at my touch. His hand reached up and touched my face. I tilted my head into his hand and closed my eyes as well. When I opened them Liam has a small smile upon his face. I caressed his cheek with my other hand that wasn't brushing his hair.
He let out a cough. My eyes darted back and forth from his mouth to his eyes. They were full of... Happiness? That was unusual.
"M-May," He stuttered. My eyes flew to his and he spoke again, "I had fun," he winked. I let out a small giggle.
"Please don't die. Do that for me, please?" He shook his head. I knew he was going to die, there was no stopping it.
"I-I'm sorry, May. I can't do that. Just- Please. Don't let anything go to your head and never give up," He got out. Tears were threatening to spill over my eyes. It caused a burning pain, but I didn't care. I nodded and sniffed. "I love you, May." With that comment all the tears just started to flow down my cheeks freely.
I leaned down and gently placed my lips upon his. I closed my eyes and could taste saltwater again. I leaned back up and took a shaky breath. Liam's eyes were closed, but his hand was still on my cheek.
Slowly, his hand started to slide off my face and that's when more tears came. I was full on balling now. His hand was off my face now and on the ground. I felt numb. I didn't want it to end this way. A cannon had went off then. Then I realized;
I won.
I stood up and wiped my tears away. A voice spoke in the air, "Ladies and gentlemen, this years victor! May Hunter!"
A hovercraft came out of nowhere and a ladder had been thrown down. My gut told me to grab it, but my heart wanted Liam with me. I went along with my gut, but I was looking down on Liam's dead body. The ladder lifted me up into the hovercraft and I was in a room that was white and it had a bed with white sheets on it.

Fanfiction--Alright before you say anything, I know this story may be bad, but please hear me out. I know that in Catching Fire it is totally different, but I wanted it to be my way, and so I made this book. In this book Catching Fire doesn't exist, alright...
