Chapter 10: Like A Shadow To You

When she came back, he hid behind the curtains. He watched her sip the glass of water while making notes on her laptop about client orders and delivery information. Banu felt a change in the taste of water and looked at it. Then, she thought about what could go wrong in her house and shrugged the thought off.

After a few minutes, she rose from the sofa and headed to the dining hall. Noticing this, he guessed that she would come to the room then to check up on him. So, he crept to the room and closed the door behind him without any noise. Banu proved his assumption by heading towards the room. When she opened the door and stepped into it, her vision almost blurred. She stumbled upon the bed and fell on Aravind.

Soon, she became unconscious. As if waiting for the moment, Aravind opened his eyes and sat up on the bed. Once again, he waved his hand before her and confirmed that she had passed out. Then, he pulled her to his lap and stared at her. He touched her chin and brushed her hair out of her face to get a clear view. He found her very attractive even with her eyes closed.

He wanted to do many things for her but didn't know where to start. Without thinking much, he moved his finger gradually from her chin to the neck. He imagined her reaction to his touch and grazed his index finger against her collarbone. Now, his breath became shallow and the animal in him woke up. When he reached for the ends of her top to take it off, the doorbell rang. His phone beeped with incoming messages.

But he was in no mood to answer them. Since the bell continued to ring, he reluctantly left her and went towards the door while opening his message. He was informed of Kailash finding out something was wrong and asking someone to take care of the matter. The information made him angry and he kicked the nearby chair. He went near the digital door viewer and was shocked to see the person at the door.

Akash stood there impatiently waiting for the door to be opened. Aravind was confused and angry at the same time. But he knew he had no time for this. So, he looked for a way out and headed towards the balcony. While cursing at him, Aravind gave one last look at Banu before going upstairs to escape from the balcony.

Akash and Aravind shared a strange family connection. Akash's father married Aravind's mother after his wife died in an accident. Aravind's father was a big shot in the cryptocurrency field. Akash's mother lured his father so that she could enjoy the luxury. Akash drifted away from his father. He pursued a career in law as he did not want to live in the shadow of his father.

He was successful in his cases under the guidance of Kailash. The first impression he had of Kailash was not good considering his background. But as he worked with him, he learned how he was far different from the gossip he heard. Kailash often spoke about his daughter in an exciting way. Every day he had something to share about his daughter Banu.

Akash began to expect the stories each day. He became curious to meet her at least once. But then, his father pressured him to take over his business which Aravind badly wanted to own. He didn't want to get stuck in the toxic family circle. So, he moved away from the house stating that he was never interested in the business.

Instead of using his father's name, he wanted to shine by his name. So, he borrowed money from Kailash and started a law firm. He stayed there and worked devotedly each day. The initial months were rough as he did not get many clients. But the way he handled a few cases got him more clients in the following months.

He returned the amount to Kailash with interest over the past week. That is why when Kailash called him all of a sudden, he was surprised. He got into action after noticing the anxiety in his voice. When no one opened the door, he became alert and started to bang the door with full force. Within a few minutes, he broke the lock and pushed the door open.
