Akash laid her on the bed and applied an ointment on her knee. She hissed in pain but then beamed at his arrival. Akash wiped his hands off using a towel and stretched them to relax the pressure.
He raised a brow and said, "Why can't you wait till I come? What is so urgent that you had to stand on the old stool and risk falling down? Atleast you could have sought the help of Muthu brother."
Banu's face changed colors and became angry over his words. She sat up on the bed and held her hands on her hip.
"Akash, don't treat me like a kid. I'm mature enough to know what to do and what not. Yeah, I slipped from the stool. But it can happen to anyone."
Akash looked at her with tired eyes and released a breath. He went outside and changed into his nightwear. In the meantime, Banu got worried about him. She felt bad about fighting with him when he was already weary from work. When she tried to get up, he opened the door and entered inside with two plates.
He pulled the table at the corner near her bed and placed the plates on it. She wanted to break the silence and fixed her gaze on him. Akash brought the foods he ordered from her favorite restaurants and served them one by one on her plate.
She became cheerful and enclosed her right hand in his arm. When he pushed the plate gently before her, she took some pulaov with chicken masala and fed him. The tension in his face eased then followed by him feeding her a big bite.
After eating together, they both washed their plates using running water and dried them by placing them on the stand. Banu made the bed and arranged the pillows. She pulled him towards her and made him sit on the bed.
"I'm worried about you, Banu. Please don't try like this anymore. Get some help. I know I reacted too much. You're the only family I have. I can't bear to lose you. The sudden demise of Uncle has shattered me in many ways. He was more than a well wisher to me. But what I feel about with you is much more than my gratitude for Uncle. I fear..the possibility of losing you..just like I lost my parents," Akash's voice broke when spoke the last sentence.
With teary eyes, Banu hugged him and rubbed his back gently. Akash's whole demeanor relaxed and he pulled her even closer. He loved the smell of her as it pacified his heart. For a few minutes, they were lost in each other's touch.
The sound of message in Akash's phone separated them. When he stood up to bid her goodnight, she caught his hand and asked him to stay with her the night. He did not know how to react to it but then nodded his head absentmindedly. Banu handed him a blanket and moved to the side to give him the space to sleep.
Carrying a small smile, Akash popped into the bed and turned off the lights.A few minutes later, Banu reduced the space between them and nudged closer to him. The transparent wall between them was broken the day and brought them closer both mentally and physically. After a long time, they slept without any thoughts about the next day.
Akash woke up from the sleep in 6 AM. He looked sideways and saw his love sleeping calmly. With no intention to disturb her sleep, he wore his airpods and went through the messages. One message caught his attention and alerted his mind. It was from the detective he hired to keep an eye on Aravind as he had doubts in the accident of Kailash.
Akash got annoyed at seeing Aravind together with Banu. The photos revealed that they were having an intense conversation.
'Why didn't she tell me about meeting him?
Many thoughts clouded his mind spoiling his start of the day.
