I was deep in thought when I heard "Jazmine, I'm home."
Mom.
I groaned. But I just sat down!, I complained in my head. I got up slowly, and rather lazily, out of my bed. Making my way sluggishly down the hallway, I looked over the balcony. Mom was taking off her coat.
"Hey, Mom. How was your time out?" I asked sweetly. Maybe I can bribe my way out of roller skating.
She turned while in the process of taking off her boots and grinned up at me. "Just wonderful. When I went shopping for your roller skates, I saw this pair of roller skates that I just had to buy." Mom exclaimed excitingly.
Just Great!! ~Note the sarcasm~
"Oh, Is that so?" I asked, eyebrows raised.
She nodded. "Absolutely. You would just love them! Wanna see?" Reaching down to grab what I assumed were the skates. She was practically jumping up and down with excitement. I didn't know whether it was because of the skates, or that I was finally getting out of the house. I would like to think it was the first one.
"Umm... Maybe after dinner, Mom." I said barely able to contain my laughter.
She squealed. "I can't wait!" She said and all but skipped towards the kitchen. Again, I would like to think that her reaction was because of the roller skates.
"Umm... Speaking of dinner" I said slowly. Quickly heading in the kitchen to see her finishing washing her hands, and heading over to pick a pot for dinner. I reached up and grabbed a pot and handed it to her before she could do anything. "Need anything?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
Mom looked at me like I was a alien. The look quickly turned to suspicion. "Okay. Stop trying to butter me up, and just tell me what you want." She told me, seeing right through my act. I tried my best not to roll my eyes.
I gasped. Putting my hands to my heart, feigning hurt. " A girl can't just help her sweet, beautiful, selfless, adoring mother?" I asked innocently, fluttering my lashes.
Mom gave a look that said she didn't believe me, her eyes narrowing. I couldn't take it anymore.
A few seconds went by. Groaning, I tipped my head back. "Fine, I'll give." I said, exhaustingly.
"Please, please, please don't make me roller skate!!" I begged.
Mom rolled her eyes. Continuing to make dinner, she sighed. "How about this, lets make a deal. If you agree to take lesson for roller skating, willingly. I will let you quit after two months." She suggested hesitantly.
I cringed. Two months? I thought. That seems like a long time. But from the look on mom's face, she's wasn't going to go any earlier than two months.
"Deal." I said. We shook hands to close the deal and I turned and started to walk back to my room.
"Does that offer still stand?" I heard Mom call behind me. I turned, raising an eyebrow questioningly. " You helping with dinner." She said, grinning.
"Oh." I said, turning back around I continued walking to my room. "Of course, not." I said. I heard Mom chuckling behind me.
" You start lesson tomorrow!" Mom yelled from the kitchen. Tomorrow was Sunday.
"KK." I called back, and headed up the stairs into my room, and got ready for bed. I was REALLY tired. Then I remembered. " Oh, and Mom?" I asked. " Can you get my phone from Jace. He came in my room and took it off my dresser earlier." I said and headed upstairs and went to sleep.
