I huffed out the held in air that I needed to release as my ears heard the sound of Mr Sir's truck's engine come to a stop at D-Tents digging site for the day. My eighth hole so far was going pretty good, obviously painful, but I was slowly starting to get used to it. Slowly.

We'd all been digging for about three hours ish and I think I've been coping well enough. My hole was about four feet deep and four feet wide. I think I'll be done in another hour. I've got to say, digging wider was a lot easier than deeper, but silly me didn't know that earlier and none of these doofuses even tried to tell me that. Actually, on my first day, they were all pretty quiet. Not completely quiet, but it was hard to wedge myself into life here, at camp. The food, the people, the counsellors, the sleeping situations, the digging, the uniform, the climate. Sure Dallas wasn't cold, but it was durable. Camp Green Lake on the other hand? Whew, it was hot. Hotter than a fire, and I knew that close hand. Standing close to a fire and watching it grow, it progress, it was fascinating. The colours burning and dancing around, the breeze and oxygen helping the fire to be successful, it all mesmerised me. And also, standing next to fire was nothing in comparison to digging for hours straight under the eyes of the scorching fire ball that stared down at us with no mercy. I would kill for an ice cold lemonade and to ice skate. To be somewhere cool.

Rough coughs let themselves out of me as I accidentally inhaled a bit too much dust from my cylinder shaped hole. I attempted to get out but failed, miserably too. I sighed as my eyes peered above the perimeter of my hole. The other pile of dirt was either the same amount as mine, or a little more. Well, Zeros was a lot more than mine. Zero actually taught me some tricks to dig faster. I never knew how he did it, he would always be done in a heartbeat, no hesitation and no trouble, but what he did tell me was something about the angle you dig or hold the shovel. For a guy that prefers to observe and not speak, he's really smart. I'm guessing he's two grades below the rest of us academically but I think he could easily fit into our grade and beat the other teens in my grade. No one ever really took Sophomore grade seriously, well at least not yet.

I eventually gave up on trying to get out of my hole and settled on decomposing slowly in my grave. Honestly, imagine how many bodies you could fit into the amount of holes dug in this hell hole.
A little laugh and a voice joked to me from above my whole, a hand lending itself out, "You look so defeated?" I looked up and squinted my eyes because of the sun. A smile immediately grew on my tired face the moment the laugh and voice identified themselves to be Zigzag.
I just about managed to let out, "Yeah. Thirsty," in a dry voice.

The heat choked me, and water was the only thing that could put me on a temporary healing spell. What would permanently solve it on the other hand was, getting out of here.

Without a second thought, I stood up again and grasped Zigzag's hands. He pulled me out effortlessly, I didn't even see, or hear, a sign of struggle rush through him. Damn he was strong.
The moment I stood with my two feet outside my hole, I let my hands detach from Zigzags. His touch was what I craved but then he'd think I was weird. Even though I chose to neglect the thought, he probably had a girlfriend waiting back in his home life. I had no chances. I guess he'd just have to stay a crush...

ZIGZAG POV

I helped her out of her hole. She muttered a thank you in a dry raspy voice. It sounded strangely attractive. But honestly, when did I not find this girl attractive?
I cleared my throat as I looked down at her extremely perfectly shaped hole, "Wow. Your hole is going great."

A smile graced her face as she shook her head, "Thanks, but I'm falling a bit behind." She sighed as stretched out her hands.

"Are you kidding?" I barely kept my jaw from dropping.
She looked straight into my blue eyes which were full of captivation. She smiled, the front pieces of her hair framing her face as the light-light breeze hit her.

"Honestly, I need to get away from this heat. I feel so sticky." She shivered up in disgust, her cute nose scrunching up too. I looked down at her with a mesmerised smile, then I chuckled. Her nose looked even cuter when she did that.

Magnet, who stood in the line, slipped out of his mouth, "C'mon lovebirds. I need to get my water."

My eyes widened as I quickly shot my head to Magnet and the rest of D-Tent. They all covered their wide smiles and smirks by either looking away or with their hands. My eyes focused on Magnet who smirked to himself. Boy was I going to kill him later.

My face started to gradually heat up as I slowly turned and looked back down to Fire, who calmly laughed at Magent's comment, nudging me, "He's funny isn't he?"

"Sure, I guess." I answered under pressure while Fire continued to chuckle to herself before walking away from me and towards the line.
The boys all watched her calm reaction with fake 'normal' faces, ugh I regret telling them about my feelings towards Fire. They're always teasing me.

I facepalmed the moment they all looked back at me with their smug expressions. I shook my head and playfully rolled my eyes before lining up in the line, behind Squid.
I playfully shoved him forward. He gained his stability quickly and turned around, readying his hands to attempt to knock me out but then stopped when he saw it was me. I laughed at his genuine confused and annoyed face.

"Shut up." He muttered while playfully rolling his eyes and standing back in his spot in the line. Annoying Squid was my favourite thing to do ever. He gets so annoyed so easily, I think he has anger issues but just agrees to not admit it. I silently chuckled to myself before Squid nudged me in the belly with his elbow lighty.
"Ow." I let out fakely which made Squid give me a hard side stare before teasing, "Go annoy someone else. Hm. I think her name starts wi-" before He could finish, I grabbed him by his shirt, "Shhhh." I smirked at his shocked reaction. The other boys laughed before toning it down as they all looked back to Fires confused reaction. How long was I going to keep in my feelings?...

The walk back to Camp after digging. All of D-tent -

FIRE POV

We all walked back like a big group, laughs erupting from different people. I was more listening to the conversation than contributing to it. Instead, I signed off a bit, walking beside Zero and Stanley to my left, Zigzag and Magnet to my right. X-ray, Squid and Armpit all walked in front of us. At one point, I thought I was going to trample on X-Rays shoes. They walked so slow!

I whispered to Zero, "What do you think X-Ray would do if I stepped on the back of his shoe?"
Zero looked at me a bit confused before chuckling and shrugging, "Don't know, you should find out."

"Me?!" I exclaimed, "You're joking?" I giggled, X-Ray would murder me. He's slightly scary, even though he's the slightest bit taller than me. I think it's because of the amount of authority he's got in our tent.

"What's he joking about?" Magnet asked me, I stopped giggling as me and Zero shared a quick side glance to each other. Zero didn't really talk to the rest of the tent, he only talked to me and Stanley. I don't really know why he's comfortable with me, I think maybe it is because me and Stanley are comfortable? I've got no clue, but again, I'm not complaining!

"Oh nothing. It's not really funny."

"You don't like Zero do you?" Squid peeked up from in front of me. Me and Zero then shared a look of disgust before I laughed, "No! Of Course not."

'Here comes the interrogation!' The sarcasm spiralled in my head.
