"So, I thought I'd never see you again?" Jay smiled as he greeted Ah Eun, who happened to be seated beside him on the first class flight.

Ah Eun was taken aback by his presence, not expecting to encounter him on her flight back to New York. Despite her surprise, she remained composed, choosing to focus on her book rather than engage with him.

Jay, however, seemed unfazed by her indifference, reminiscing about their past encounters. "This feels like déjà vu from high school, doesn't it? We were on the same flight back then too," he remarked with a smile.

She glanced at him briefly, her expression neutral. "I thought you were a chief pilot. Why are you sitting here?" she inquired, diverting the conversation.

"I'm an international chief pilot. I'm just a passenger on this domestic flight since I visited Seattle," he explained casually.

"So, you're saying it's just a coincidence that we ended up on the same flight and seated next to each other?" she retorted, her skepticism evident.

He chuckled at her response, not missing a beat. "No, I booked this flight intentionally," he confessed, his confidence unwavering.

"In that case, you must be a stalker," Ah Eun quipped, raising an eyebrow sardonically.

"More like your admirer," Jay's smirk only widened at her remark as he countered playfully.

Ah Eun's expression softened slightly, taken aback by his boldness. "I like stalkers more than admirers," she retorted, trying to regain control of the conversation.

He laughed, finding her response amusing, "Oh, you're right, I was stalking you as a pilot."

She met his gaze with a steely glare, "I like stalkers more than admirers ending up behind bars as a lawyer," she replied sharply, refusing to engage further.

Jay's smile widened, impressed by her quick wit. "You must be an excellent lawyer."

"Thanks," Ah Eun replied, turning her attention back to her book.

"I don't accept 'thanks' anymore," Jay teased, his gaze lingering on her, "I only accept number."

"What?" She asked in confusion, can't comprehend to his words.

He smirked, seeing her clueless reaction, "Can I have your phone number?"

"What would I give you my phone number?" She smiled, inwardly rolling her eyes.

"Cause I'm your admirer? and your stalker?" he chuckled.

However, she only met his gaze with cold stares before promptly looking away, her attention returning to the pages of her book. In her mind, engaging in conversation with Jay seemed like a futile endeavor, a mere waste of time.

After all, in her eyes, their connection had ended a decade ago, and she saw no reason to reopen old wounds or revisit the past. With a resolute determination, she buried herself in her book, determined to maintain her distance and guard herself against any potential reopening of old wounds.

"I would like to have your number so that I could see if a lawyer and a pilot could be together," he continued.

"A lawyer and a pilot don't look good together," Ah Eun muttered, trying to dismiss him.

"But Alex and Jay does," Jay countered, surprising her with his sincerity.

Caught off guard by his unexpected comment, she couldn't help but feel a flicker of amusement. Despite her best efforts to maintain her composure, she couldn't deny the spark of intrigue that Jay's presence ignited within her.
