[ au: draco suddenly notices you and takes interest. he bullies you, only for your attention, of course. but how are you supposed to know that? ]

[ 2 : draco's pov ]

Merlin, I hate first-years.

'Um, sir? Where should I put my bag? Is there a personal space for me to hang up my robes? Or should I share a closet with someone?' A kid's squeaky voice irritates my ears as I unpack my clothes into my private, separate closet. I pinch the bridge of my nose. 'Share with someone.'

'B- but everyone seems to already have partners-'

'Not my problem, kid.'

'I used to have my own closet at home-'

'Have fun figuring that out,' I push past the kid, heading into the common room. Crabbe, Goyle, Zabini, Corvin, Vale, Theo and Lysander are playing cards.

'God,' I throw myself onto the couch, between Zabini and Theo. Tousling my hair, I realize how hungry I am. 'Merlin, first-years piss me off.'

Crabbe grunts. 'One asked me if he could 'borrow my wand'.'

Zabini, Vale, and Theo laugh in sync, sarcastically. 'Surely you let him?'

'Told the little git to ask Draco,' Crabbe snorts, and I groan.

'Hey,' Zabini said suddenly, not drawing another card as he was supposed to. I quirk an eyebrow.

'Remember when those Hufflepuff girls were staring at us? In the morning? I wonder what all that was about.'

'Hufflepuffs,' Vale dismisses. 'I'd take a Gryffindor girl over one of those.'

I raise an eyebrow, again. Everyone stares at Vale.

'O- Okay, not a Gryffindor, obviously. Since they're our rivals. Obviously.' Vale chuckles nervously.

I turn my attention to Zabini. 'What's it to you then?'

'Nothing. But the Hufflepuff girls aren't bad at all, eh?' Zabini nods at me. I shrug, smirking. 'Wouldn't know. Can't remember the last time I've paid attention to a Hufflepuff.'

'You're an arse,' Zabini shoves me as I grin arrogantly.

'Not like there's any good Slytherin options,' Goyle grunts. 'We have pug-face, Mincestone, Bulstrode, Rich, and Davis.'

'Rich isn't all that terrible,' Vale offers. I nearly laugh. Rich looks like a female version of Ron Weaselhead. 'Her eyes go two different directions, mate.'

Zabini snorts. 'Can never be too sure if she's talking to me, that one. I always think it's someone to my left.'

'What about Mincestone? I think her hair is... nice.' Crabbe slowly enunciates.

Vale laughs. 'Mincestone has about 30 bodies. I remember I caught her sneaking out the third-floor boys' lavatory, looking beyond shanked. She's a fox, that one.'

Zabini whistles. 'The third floor. Even with Umbitch always walking around, patrolling?'

'Even so,' Vale confirms. 'Nothing stops foxes.'

[ a/n: read this whole dialogue in ur head in a british accent 😭 ]

'What about Melgren and her friends?'

The boys talk about girls from our house. Truthfully, the Slytherin girls aren't terrible-looking as a whole. They're just snakes who only care about snogging boys and makeup. They're all the same- same personality: a piece of cardboard.
