The rack clanked noisily as I placed the plate back on it. Two 45s, two 10s.
I love the gym.
I walk back to my bag and water bottle, near the power rack. My phone lights up with a call, interrupting the music playing in my AirPods.
' kk 🍒 ' is calling...
'Hey,' I answer, leaning against the lifting machine. 'What's up?'
'Whatcha doin'?' Her voice sounds mischievous.
'Lifting,' I say suspiciously. 'At the gym right now. Why do you sound like that...?'
'At the gym on a Friday afternoon? You crazy, girl,' she laughs. 'Which?'
'Feld's,' I answer. 'Hey, wouldn't want my membership to go to waste.'
'Sooo,' she drags out. 'Whatcha doin' later tonight?'
I laugh. 'Fuck out of here. I don't feel like clubbing.'
'Girl. I got a game. Remember? It's UCONN versus Purdue tonight. I literally told you about it, like, a month ago.'
'Oh.'
'So I got six extra tickets and forgot to invite people. But it's sold out. It's gonna be crazy packed and hella exciting. And it's gonna look bad if the seats are empty, 'cause I specifically asked Geno for extra tickets and there's gonna be hella people watching from outside.'
