Harley's phone rang once more before being sent to voicemail. She sighed slightly, disappointed after about a month of Jenna seemingly dodging her calls and texts, she had kind of given up. But this call wasn't even for personal reasons; at the moment, the singer was in her dressing room preparing to go play spill your guts or fill your guts on live television.
The producers of the show had asked beforehand if they could ask a question about Harley and Jenna's relationship or something along those lines. Their management had seen this as a golden opportunity to "solidify" their relationship with the public. She knew Jenna was aware of what was going down tonight; obviously, her manager had told her. But it would have been nice to talk to her about it, because honestly, she was nervous.
Real or not, she had only ever been in one relationship. It lasted throughout all her high school years, with the end resulting in a heartbreaking album that was the whole reason she was here in the first place.
Answering, or rather not answering, the question meant people would be further convinced of the young stars relationship, and not talking about it with Jenna was putting her anxiety at a ten.
She heard a soft knock at the door. "Ly, your on in ten; are you ready?" Jessie said gently that she could tell how the young singer was feeling, even though she was doing her best to put on a front.
"Yup."
"Alright, so we talked it over. We were going to have you not answer the question and just subtly hint at it. But because of Jenna's unexpected absence this last month, the rumors have died down, so we're going to do this full force."
Harley nodded, fidgeting with her favorite ring that took its place on her right hand.
"Okay," the manager said, taking the young girl into a hug. "Go out there, have fun, be your usual confident self; don't let this shake you."
Five minutes later, she was seated on a couch next to Billie Eilish, who was another guest star on the show tonight.
"Welcome back; we are here with Harley Banks and Billie Eilish!" The crowd cheered even louder than when the two originally walked in.
"So, the two of you already know each other, yes?" James asked once the noise had died down.
The two musicians nodded. "We met a few months ago; we were both hiding in the bathroom at this god awful party; we got high as hell together." Billie explained.
"Yeah, we actually went to the studio after and tried to make a collab." The other singer continued the story.
The crowd visibly got excited at that. James continued, "Really, how'd that turn out?"
"Yeah, no, it was pretty terrible; if that music ever got out, I truly believe our careers would be over." Harley joked, as she remembered listening to the music once their high ended, and both immediately agreed it would never ever see the light of day.
They all laughed lightly. "Speaking of music, huge congratulations to the two of you for your wins at the Grammys this year."
"Thank you; it's all been really surreal." The younger girl slightly struggled to find a word to get across how much it meant to her.
Billie looked toward the girl and said, "Dude, you deserved all four; what you've accomplished, I'm so proud of you; it's incredible."
"Me? What was I made for? Are you kidding? It's incredible, like when I first heard it—I mean, the instrumentals and the comedown on the vocals—I mean, I was genuinely in awe." The young star ranted; she had already called Billie when first hearing it, but she would never pass an opportunity to rave about her friend's music.
