"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown."
- H.P. Lovecraft"You're pretty quiet over there," Seokjin commented as I picked at my food.
I neglected to answer him, unsure what to say in this situation. Hell, I didn't even know what to think in this situation!
"Y/n, Jin's talking to you," Namjoon says gently, placing his hand on my shoulder. I didn't mean to, but out of a first-defense panic response, I flinched away.
"S-Sorry," I mumbled. "Uhm, I guess I'm just not that hungry after all." I pushed my plate away from me. "Sorry, I know you've been cooking, but I don't feel very hungry."
"You should eat something, at least," Seokjin prods, "even if you don't feel like eating what's on your plate." He gave me a small smile. "I understand you might not be feeling up to eating right now."
At least you understand something.
"Thanks," I replied, genuinely grateful he actually seemed to understand. I started to pick at my food again, trying to work up some sort of appetite to eat. Although I hadn't eaten anything since lunch when Yoongi and I went out and I was indeed rather hungry, my nerves were shot, and I suppose the stress of a long, crazy day had taken its toll and I should try to eat something. So, with my one good arm, I shakily picked up my fork and stuck a small clump of rice into my mouth.
"I made us Hanjeongsik, a traditional Korean full-course meal with rice, soup, grilled meat, and a few types of banchan." Seokjin rolled his eyes. "I know it isn't lamb chops, and for that, I apologize, but I figured this would be more filling and enjoyable."
"It's great, thank you." I was creeped out by the guy, sure, but he did take all the time to cook, and I always thanked whoever cooked for me if it wasn't myself...
Although, I couldn't hide the denial that the few bites I'd had so far seemed safe. Actually, it's more than safe. It was...pretty good. Ah, okay, Seokjin, I'll give you that one, you are a good cook.
When he noticed me eyeballing my food the way I was, Seokjin chuckled. "It's okay, love, you can eat up. I know you're hungry." Slightly embarrassed that he'd caught me I felt my cheeks flame, but I ignored it and continued to eat. "So, Namjoon-ah, how was your day?" He questioned now, and Namjoon set down his utensils.
"It was fine, albeit long," he answers. "I'm rather tired from last night. Today was...well, another Valentine's Day come and gone."
