☆ Hospital ☆ Waiting Room ☆
"She's fine for the most part, physically. Though she isn't showing any signs of waking up which is odd. It probably has something to do with her psychological state. What exactly happened before she fell into the lake, if I may ask?"
Tokiya turned his head away from the doctor and looked at the redhead sitting in the waiting area, looking miserable.
"I see," the doctor nodded his head, getting what he was trying to hint at, "Well, I've got other patients to attend so..."
Tokiya bobbed his head in a bow as the doctor nodded and disappeared down the hallway. Exhaling a breath, Tokiya stepped towards Otoya, who's face was buried in his hands. Without saying anything, he sat down beside him.
"You're not going to see her? They're allowing visitors."
Otoya didn't reply to Tokiya and instead hung his head even more.
"Tokiya, it's my fault."
The ravennette sighed, "No it's not. You couldn't have stopped her falling."
Her furrowed his eyebrows in remembrance to how panicked he was when he came to find them at the festival. He was so scared he looked like he would cry. After they rushed and called the ambulance, the rest of them decided they'd be too big of a group to stick around and see Mae just when she woke up so they went back to the dorms, but Otoya's guilt contorted expression was worse than ever.
"I could've jumped in after her," Otoya simply said.
"That wouldn't have been very smart. And besides, the doctor said it's not because of the water she swallowed, she's perfectly fine. It's something that's more psychological that's keeping her from waking up..." Tokiya's eyes drifted onto him, "Did something happen?"
Otoya's face constricted with an annoyed yet disappointed expression. It was his fault...
Memories of what happened before she fell into the lake filled his mind. She was smiling normally until that girl came... Who was that girl? Otoya clenched his fists.
She said really horrible things to her. Who did she think she was?
"Hey, loser, guess what? After you left the academy everyone couldn't have been happier. And that disgusting stink I always smelt disappeared too. I think the reason the school always felt so crummy was because you were there. I was hoping you ran off somewhere to go die but I guess you're still living huh?"
Otoya frowned in remembrance. Did that have something to do with the fact Mae didn't attend Saotome Academy?
"Where is Akahana Mae's room??" Both Tokiya and Otoya looked up to see a flustered pink haired girl followed by another male pestering the front desk. Otoya recognized the girl from the daycare, that day Mae performed. She was standing there watching.
Were her and that man her parents...? The man aside, the pink haired girl looked nothing like her.
When the front desk told her which room Mae resided in, she turned to go. Right when she did, her eyes fell upon Otoya and Tokiya sitting there. The redhead flinched when she suddenly came stomping up to him.
"You're Otoya right?" The girl's voice came out a lot manlier than he'd think and Otoya paled.
"Y-y-yes!"
The pink haired female out her hands to her hips, pouting, "We got a call from the hospital that Mae-chan had been admitted... Wasn't she supposed to be going to a festival with you?"
