what will it take for you
to understand the coveted
beauty of your own body, that
anyone who doesn't understand
what they look at it isn't your responsibility,
your problem?
what will it take for you to
realize that you are safe to
live in your own skin and bones,
and yes, you are always getting older,
but no, that doesn't mean you have
to become less sensual, less vital,
less sure or as passionate as before?
you have gotten so used to seeing
yourself as someone to be thrown to
the side because they have hated you.
you have walked the earth of your mind,
and the night sky of your heart, searching
for a meaning you were never going
to find, for it was built on things that
never were true. existed, perhaps. but
never, ever once true.
