"Wait for it...Wait for it," Jake called as he watched the clock above the elevator tick over to the next minute. "9:01! Amy Santiago is officially late for the first time ever. All right, let's do this. Who's got theories?"

"Uh...Alarm didn't go off." Terry suggested.

"All three alarms? All with battery back-up?" Jake rolled his eyes, "Come on, who wants to take this seriously?"

"Ooh! She was taken in her sleep!" Charles exclaimed, stepping forwards a little.

"That's what I'm talking about!" Jake cheered, "Super dark, Boyle, but way more plausible than the Sarge's idiotic alarm clock theory."

"I bet she tucked herself into bed too tight and got stuck." Rosa smirked, watching as Neveah took the coffee mug from her hands and took a sip.

"Mm, maybe she fell into another dimension where she's interesting." Gina suggested with an innocent smile.

"It's 9 am. Why is no one working?" Holt demanded as he came out of his office to scold the congregation of detectives.

"Amy Santiago is a few minutes late, and we're all trying to guess why." Jake explained, a giddy little grin playing on his lips.

"I'd like to play." Holt confessed, "I'd say she's in line at the...bank. This is fun."

"It is fun, but you're all wrong," Jake corrected, "She clearly slipped through a subway grate and is having terrible sex with a mole man."

The squad stared at Jake in confusion for a split second before the elevator doors opened and Amy came rushing out. "There she is. Amy! Where have you been? We've been worried sick. Do you care to explain yourself?!"

"I'm just 70 seconds late. It's not a big deal." Amy brushed off the concern. "Don't worry about it."

"Santiago, you will tell us, and you will tell us now." Holt demanded, his arms crossed over his chest.

"There was a problem at the bank..." Amy admitted with a frown.

"Hot damn!"

"So, you guys nervous about the trial tomorrow?" Jake asked as he sat in between Neveah and Terry, each detective nursing a drink.

"The jewellery store break-in?" Terry scoffed before he was interrupted.

"Diamond Heist, Sarge, get it right." Neveah playfully rolled her eyes in mock frustration.

"It's like you're going out of your way to make it seem less cool." Jake carried on, giving Neveah a no look fist bump.

"I think the conviction's a slam dunk." Terry shrugged.

"Good. Not to overstate it, but I'm definitely gonna die alone, and work is all I have." Jake sighed, staring at the bottom of his drink.
