THE KEYS JANGLED IN YOUR HANDS as you unlocked the front door to your apartment; you were out of breath as you lugged your two heavy personal bags and a group of groceries up too many flights of stairs to have counted.

Apparently, while you were gone, somebody had broken the elevator by jumping, and it was still out of commission. You wish you had known that before you rushed into the grocery store right before it closed. Pushing open the door, out of breath, you noticed that the TV was on and blaring a loud noise into the dark apartment.

"Minato!" you called out to the darkness, dropping everything to the floor and shutting the door behind you with a click. "You little rascal. Why aren't you sleeping? You have summer classes tomorrow."

No response. This boy was going to be the death of you. The time read 11:03 pm, which was way past his bedtime. Kicking your shoes off and stepping over the bags, you tip-toed your way past the kitchen and into the dark living room that was illuminated by the TV.

The latest season of Jojo's bizarre adventure was playing; peeking over at the couch, the pink blanket that typically adorned it was all rumpled up, and the two pillows that you'd always fix on each side of the grey couch were scattered on the floor. You face palmed internally.

In the corner of your eye, you caught sight of the tablecloth moving. Bingo!

Creeping further, you did your best to keep as silent as possible. Once you reached it, you flung up the tablecloth to be greeted with a familiar sight. Your little brother Minato curled up in a ball, staring at you with wide eyes. He seemed frozen for a moment, but when he finally realized it was you, he lunged forward so fast you had no time to react.

"I missed you so much!" He cried into your neck and wrapped his arms around you, taking the two of you down to the ground in a swift motion. You happily did the same, arms closing around the smaller boy's form. He clung tight to you as you ruffled at his hair. "I missed you two Minato."

"Have you eaten yet?" He shook his head, and you frowned. "Why not?"

"I came home early so that I could clean up for you!" Minato said, snuggling closer to you; he wanted to be as close as possible. Not seeing you for a week was devastating for him, and it took all his might not to burst out into tears.

"Aww, Minato, you didn't have to," the tone of your voice had softened; he was always going out of his way to make things better for you. If you didn't have time for the extra work, then he would make sure to do it. "But I wanted to!"

"Okay, how about I make some ramen for us then? And we can eat and talk about our weeks." you offer, and Minato nods away eagerly; you pick him up and carry him to the kitchen, setting him down on one of the barstools, then pull out two ramen packages from the grocery bag and place them on the counter.
