37-The Tower & The Chariot
Afternoon time, the shadow of the shining sun above people's heads and the abrupt silence of the winds is not making a pleasant combination today. As the silence stretches everywhere with the wind, it's beginning to set an eerie atmosphere. An atmosphere that no one seems to decipher easily.
The cards have been laid out by the enemy. Will the opponent fall in the trap?
"Tch. tch. tch. Look at you, struggling to set yourself free. Now you know why good people suffer? as long as you were evil, you were doing fine, but now, when you have decided to act nice you are tied, at my mercy and afraid for your life."
Stated Karan bitterly, with cigarette smoke coming out of his mouth. He threw a glance to his left where Simmi was tied to a chair.
"Right,Simmi? But you don't have luck in cards today. You successfully informed Tarini but your timing is awful."
He continued speaking while gazing down at her from behind his desk in a menacing way. He punched the armrest of his chair as he threw his head back laughing out loudly.
"I wasn't going to kidnap his sister when she was on her way to college. That would be no fun. But, anyhow your actions have made my plan just perfect. Tarini must think that your call was fake, and so her anger will be directed towards you not me because she has no clue that we both have shared a history.
It will be pleasing to see how Someshwar and his family will beg for Krisha, who reached her college safely but never returned. And because Tarini is responsible for Krisha in his absence, their relationship stands no chance of survival after my plan."
His cynical laughter continued to echo within his office room where the only source of light was a window and that too had the curtains on.
"Bewakoof."
Simmi whispered, putting a pause to Karan's laughter. She had run out of all the energy in her body to fight back, her head hung low, blood drops dripping down from the corner of her mouth.
"Bewakoofi hai ye sochna ke tum un dono ko alag kar paoge. Pagalpan hai ye yakeen rakhna ke tum apne gande iradon mein kamyaab ho paoge woh bhi tab, jab tumhare samne Tarini khadi hogi. Trust me, Karan. I would know, because I was once the same dumbass as you."
Karan kicked his chair and started taking long strides towards Simmi. He grabbed her chin harshly, forcing her to look up at him.
"Mera badla koi bachon ka khel nahi hai, Simmi. Pehle mujhe bhi Tarini se tumhari tarah sirf chidh thi. Lekin ab, us thappad ke baad, us beizzati ke baad, mujhe usse nafrat hai. Aaj agar mujhe tumhari Bali bhi deni padi, meri ex girlfriend, to main dunga."
He straightened to his full height and pulled out a revolver that was sitting snug in his pocket. As he aimed at Simmi's forehead and reloaded the gun, Simmi stared up at him. A tear rolled down her cheek but a smirk was also there on her face.
A loud gunshot echoed, making the bird fly off the branches they were sitting on. The bullet went ripping off the paper where a red dot was placed right in the middle for shooting practice.
"Bhai subah se goliyan chala rahe ho bore nahi ho rahe?"
Tarini questioned Robin who was busy admiring his favorite gun in his hands. A bowl that was full of almonds, cashews and resins an hour ago was now on the verge of getting emptied by her.
