"Why are you sitting here instead of dancing with the others?"

Gio sat down next to me before putting her drink which she barely touched down. She's more of a smoker and not a drinker. Twinsies.

"I'm not really in the mood to dance, I'm ready to go home and take tomorrow off to preapre for monday" I said shrugging my shoulders.

It wasn't a lie. I still had to unpack and get my bag ready for classes. I wasn't really ready to start classes yet but it is what it is. I wonder how this year is going to be.

Gio nodded her head before looking towards the girls with a look on her face as if she wanted to say something.

I admired her side profile a bit while she was doing so, looking at her green clover tattoo on her cheek. I wonder why she got it. Probably a dare.

I began to examine all of her tattoos and realized they aren't the usual tattoos that one would get. They're mostly cute drawings and other cool stuff that she probably got for fun.

I looked back up to her eyes to see that she was staring right back at me.

We sat like this for a while admiring each others faces before she spoke. I'm still getting used to her speaking to me. I thought this girl didn't like me.

"You look really good tonight" She said giving me a once over before meeting my eyes again.

"Thank you but, I have a question."

"What's up"

"How come you acted so cold and nonchalant when I first met you guys?" I said finally asking because I was curious. Hopefully curiosity doesn't kill my feelings.

Get it? because curiosity killed the c- okay nevermind.

"Honestly, it's because I'm not really fond of the whole meeting new people and immediately getting close to them thing. I kind of have to warm up to you. I've always been like that my whole life. Bad habit I guess" She said shrugging.

I know I shouldn't, but I feel like there's some lie but mostly truth to what she just told me. Almost like she left something out but decided against telling me.

I nodded my head in understanding and looked around at all the horny, high, and definitely drunk adults that are all having the time of their lives.

"I never understood why people feel as if they need to get drunk or high to have fun. I mean I can understand getting high but getting drunk makes you vulnerable and willing to do whatever. You can be high and chill but you can't be drunk and chill." I said still staring at everyone around me.

"Why do you think that?" Gio said still looking at me.

"People get wasted to have fun. Why? It may be because they want to boost their adrenaline but you can do that while being sober. I bet everyone in this house right now doesn't know the actual feeling of real fun with friends. I mean I wouldn't know, but I always imagine it and really want to experience that kind of joy you know?" I said before finally meeting her eyes.

She didn't respond. Instead she gave me a warm smile and patted my thigh before standing up and holding her hand out for me to take.

"So let's go have fun then."
