"You know how much damage it can cause you, but you still kept it?" Ma shouted at me, fury evident in her eyes. She had somehow found out about the file and the sensitive information it contained, and she was livid that I had kept it hidden.
"And how long have you planned to hide it from me?" she demanded, her eyes blazing as she glared at me. I just stood there, unable to find the words to defend myself.
"Avivansh, you better not be doing anything stupid," she warned, pointing a finger at me.
"Ma, I won't do anything stupid. Trust me," I said, gently holding her shoulders and guiding her to sit on the couch.
"You better not," she said, finally sitting down but still fuming.
"Why don't you let go of your stubborness. vengeance It's not always the answer. I almost lost you that day. I can't handle that pain again," she pleaded.
"I won't do anything to hurt you, Ma," I replied, kneeling down in front of her and holding her hands in mine.
"I know forgetting that memory is not easy, especially when you were a ten-year-old child who witnessed their parents' murder," she said, her voice softening as she ran her hands over my head. The mention of the incident brought the memories flooding back.
I closed my eyes as the images flashed through my mind: a sunny afternoon, the sound of laughter echoing all around, the fragrance of flowers in the garden. Then, it all changed to the sound of gunshots and cries, blood spreading everywhere. I opened my teary eyes, on the verge of breaking down.
"Listen to me, Avivansh, very carefully," Ma said, wiping away a tear that had fallen from the corner of my eye. "All I want is your safety. I can't lose my child. You know very well, and you are married now. You have a responsibility towards someone. Doing all this will not just put your life in danger, but hers too. Don't let yourself lose something precious in the fire of your vengeance. I've seen how you look at her with hope and love in your eyes, and I've seen her find some lost pieces of affection in yours."
