Adele's POV:

"I checked the cameras last night and saw nothing suspicious, which is very weird," Simon said, sipping his black coffee.

"Well, I believe her without a doubt that someone was in her room," I hugged my robe tighter around my waist.

"I have no doubt about it either, it's just weird how nothing was picked up on the camera. Surely if someone climbed into Lia's room then it would've been on the video footage," Simon explained.

"It does seem peculiar. If this was a random burglary, the person wouldn't have known where the cameras were," I remarked, puzzled.

"I'm not convinced this was a random break-in. I think the person knew exactly where the cameras were located. Otherwise, how would they not have been caught on camera?" I said, voicing my suspicion.

"I'll ask the estate manager if we can see the camera footage of the entire estate from last night. Surely those cameras would've picked him up," Simon said, walking towards me.

"I'm just scared..." My voice cracked with emotion.

"Don't worry. I won't allow anything to happen to our family. I promise," he said, engulfing me in his arms, chin resting on my head. I felt safe in his embrace.

"I'm just so glad Angelo wasn't here last night. Then both of our kids would've been paranoid," I said, lifting my head to look Simon in the eyes.

"Do you think we should tell him about it?" Simon asked, brushing loose strands of hair from my face.

"Perhaps not. I don't want him stressing, especially while he's already doing school online. I don't want him to feel paranoid at home too."

"Yeah, I think that's for the best," Simon agreed, returning to making breakfast.

"Morning," Lia greeted us as she emerged from my bedroom.

"Morning, sleepy head. How'd you sleep?" I asked as I walked towards her and gave her a hug.

"Better than I thought I would've," she replied with a tight-lipped smile.

"Well, I'm glad. I was thinking we could go to the mall today and maybe run a few errands?"

"That sounds fun. Let me quickly just get ready," she released from the hug and started walking out of the kitchen.

"Alright!" I yelled after her.

"Do you think it's a good idea to go out today?" Simon questioned.

"Well, I don't think she should be stuck up in the house, especially in her room. Besides, we haven't gone out for a week. We can't become recluses again."

"Yeah, maybe you're right," he said as poured the crumpet batter that he was making into a bowl.

****

"So, what were you planning on doing today?" Lia asked as we drove to the mall.

"Well, we need some food, and I was just hoping to have a nice day with my daughter. We haven't done this in a while," I said, smiling at her before focusing on the road.

"Yeah... I've missed this," She replied, her tone suddenly emotional.

"Hey..." I rested my hand on her thigh. "Everything will go back to normal. After the promotion of your album, everything will die down, and we will be able to do things again without being bothered," I assured her.

"I don't necessarily mean that, yet, that does play a huge role. I just mean... everything seems to be so weird lately. I just have a feeling something bad is going to happen," She shrugged her shoulders.
