Days later , Benito laid in bed trying to fall asleep but he couldn't. For some reason he felt unsettled. The coqui's of the island can be heard. Becky was with him and she was fast asleep. She looked so peaceful. He decided to be the big spoon and cuddle into her , maybe that would make him sleepy and bring him peace.
But suddenly his phone rang loudly causing him to jolt away from Becky , picking up the phone quickly so he wouldn't wake her up. It was his mom , he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. It was rare that she would call at this time. He grew more nervous and anxious.
Benito picked up the phone and his mothers voice cracked on the other end. He already knew it was something bad , but it wasn't something he was expecting. He hung up and shakily began to get dressed. His rummaging caused Becky to wake up. Benito's eyes were all watery he was trying to keep it together. She decided to not ask but get dressed as well. They woke up Raul from his sleep who decided to leave in his pajamas , there was no time to throw on something else. Becky drove since Raul and Benito were too unsteady to do so. They made their way to the hospital as fast as they could.
Meanwhile Emilia was in deep sleep when her phone rang , she furrowed her eyebrows at the sight of her mother calling at this time. Her parents remained close friends with Benito's. Just because something went down with their kids they weren't going to stop their friendship. What Emilia heard come out of her mother's mouth was unexpected. Emilia hung up and began to cry. She looked for some sweats and tee. She walked over to wake up Nicole with tears running down her cheeks.
" What happened ?" Nicole asked startled
" It's Lita." Emilia croaked.
That's what they all would call Benito's grandma. Nicole did not want to hear another word. She broke down in tears and they hugged. Nicole did not care she was leaving in her pajamas. The two weren't in a good state to drive so they had Emilia's chauffeur drive them to the hospital.

Benito arrived at the hospital in which he saw his parents and brothers. Who were all a wreck just like him and Raul. Becky didn't really spend much time with his grandma. She maybe only saw her about a hand full of times but , she felt terribly sorry for the family, especially her boyfriend. Emilia's parents were currently inside saying their final goodbyes. Therefore Benito was not aware that they were present.
Suddenly the double doors automatically opened and in rushed Emilia and Nicole; both a wreck as well. Then the unexpected happened , Benito got up letting go of Becky's hand and embraced Emilia in a hug. Becky was confused and in shock , why was Emilia there ? Emilia was in shock but , now wasn't the time for that. She embraced him tightly as they cried into each others arm , he won't admit it but he needed her right now. His hug was all Emilia needed it felt perfect. Their first hug in years. Her parents then came out, Benito took Emilia with him to say their final goodbyes , completely forgetting his girlfriend.
After saying their goodbyes they went back to the waiting room with the rest. Emilia separated from Benito and sat with his brothers. She hadn't seen them in awhile and wanted to be with them as well. Becky just observed everything that Emilia was doing. Was this going to be a problem ? She asked herself that question.
Eventually the sun has risen and there was nothing else they could do. They decided to all go over to Benito's parents house , there they would eat breakfast and continue to be together during this difficult time.

While at the house they all gathered in the living room engaging in different conversations. Emilia went to the kitchen and hugged Benito's mom from behind. She did not only love Benito but his family.
" ay mi hija te amo tanto." His mom sighed.
Emilia already knew what she meant. Becky from a far once again was watching everything. That was when she spotted an old picture and it was of Benito with Emilia. Becky began to put two and two together. Could she be Benito's ex ? Why didn't Benito tell her?
Emilia suddenly got all in her feelings and made her way to the yard. There she began to cry because of Lita's death and because of Benito. She continued to ask herself how could she have been so dumb.
" want some company?" A voice asked.
She turned around and saw Benito who's eyes were puffy from all the crying. She was taken back but nodded.
" I just wanted to say I'm sorry for pretending to not know you and that I'm extremely proud of you I never doubted you" Benito said softly.
" Is it possible to leave everything behind and be friends ?" Emilia asked.
She wanted to be more but, it was this or nothing. Emilia was going to say sorry but, that would mean bringing up their relationship which was something Benito did not want to talk about.
" Amigos." He replied with a smile.
The smile that stole Emilia's heart.
