Xhenia's POV

I kissed her. I can't believe I kissed her. It's not like that was our first kiss, but it always feels like it. I just couldn't help myself.

When I was sure I was out of her sight, I put my hands over my ears and slid down the wall. My ears are burning. So was my face.

When I calmed down a bit, I stood up and walked back into the living room to talk to her, but she was gone.

"Alekses?"

I looked at the door to see if she left but the door was completely locked and I didn't hear it open so she couldn't have left yet.

I checked what I presume is the dining room, but she wasn't there either. Now that I think about it, Paws wasn't in sight either. I looked at the back door in the dining room and it was unlocked.

Maybe she's outside with Paws.

When I opened the door, I saw her rubbing under Paws' chin while on the phone. She gave him a toy that he took and ran across the yard with.

"I know, busy bee, but I can't come over today. Today ran longer than I expected."

She paused and looked at the sky while running her hand down her face.

"Can I make it up to you the day after tomorrow? I want to spend the rest of today and tomorrow with her."

I'm guessing whoever was on the other line had a lot to say because Alekses took a long pause before she released a sigh of relief.

"Yes, I'm with her," she chuckled. "I'm not telling you her name."

She looked away from the sky and locked eyes with me. She gave me a small smile and held out her hand. I guess she wants me to go to her. She continued talking to "Busy Bee" while I walked to her.

I was curious about who she was calling busy bee, but I didn't express it, and I wasn't going to let my jealousy get the best of me right now.

When I was in her reach, she grabbed my right hand, turned me away from her, and pulled me close by my waist.

"Hold on," she said. She pulled the phone away from her face and put the call on speaker. "Say hello, busy bee."

"Why," a child's voice sounded. So "Busy Bee" is a child. From what I remember, Alekses is an only child, so does that mean she has a child?

"Just say it...please."

"Hello," the child said when Alekses put the phone in front of my lips.

Does this mean she wants me to speak back?

I looked back at her, and she nodded toward the phone.

"Hello?"

The child was quiet before she began squealing.

"Is this her, Alekses? Tell me it is."

"This is her."

"Hi, what's your name?"

I've never had a child so excited to hear from me. I've never really had kids in my life much, either, but for some reason, it felt nice to hear her excitement.

"My name is Xhenia," I laughed. "What's yours?"

"My name's Janice, but Alekses calls me busy bee." She was so excited she spoke in a rushed tone. Her excitement didn't last long. She went quiet before she let out an aw man. "I gotta go. Ms. Vera's calling us for dinner. Bye-bye, Shenya. Bye Alekses."

After our farewells, she ended the call.

"She said your name wrong," Alekses chuckled after putting her phone away. She then let me go and whistled for Paws. He stopped what he was doing and came to her instantly.
