Xhenia stared at the dark ceiling after hours tossing and turning. No matter what she did she couldn't sleep. Sighing, Xhenia grabbed her pillow and quietly left her bed and her room. Oreo and Paws slept soundly on the bed so she didn't want to disturb them.

The room across from hers was silent and the lights were out.

She eased the door open, letting light shine into the dark room. The light revealed Amie lying in the middle of her bed. She oddly slept on her back with an arm over her face. It was a normal sleeping position for her since Ona liked to sleep on her stomach.

Xhenia tip-toed into the room and gently shook Amie.

"Amie," she whispered. She shook the woman again and whispered her name once more. "Amie."

Amie moved her arm and peeked her eye open. When she saw Xhenia with her pillow, she turned on her side, pulled the cover back, and patted the free space in front of her. What else could she have wanted?

"Come on," she mumbled. Sleep was heavily evident in her voice.

Xhenia crawled into bed with her pillow tight in her clutches. She laid in the spot Amie had patted and faced away from Amie. Before she could get comfortable, Amie wrapped her arm around Xhenia's waist, pulled her close, and cuddled her.

"Couldn't sleep?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"I don't know."

Amie hummed and left it at that. If she knew and didn't want to tell, she couldn't force the woman to. If she truly didn't know, there was nothing Amie could do about it.

Amie held Xhenia tighter and closed her eyes. Sleep had begun to seduce her once more when she felt Xhenia shaking in her arms. Her eyes swiftly shot open. When she leaned up, she saw Xhenia's head buried in the pillow she brought.

"Oh, Xhenia, baby, why are you crying?"

"I'm sorry," Xhenia mumbled, wiping her tears. She didn't mean to cry, but it had been a minute since she had felt bodily warmth like this.

"Don't be sorry," Amie whispered. "Tell me what's wrong."

"It's been a while since I've been held like," Xhenia mumbled. She held onto Amie's hand and laced their fingers. "I guess it overwhelmed me a bit."

"Do you want me to hold you like this all night?"

"Please."

"Okay."

Amie shifted a bit to get comfortable and placed her head in the crease of Xhenia's neck. She listened to the woman's breathing until she was noticeably asleep. Xhenia's soft snores filled Amie's ear.

"I'm sorry you had to go through what you did," Amie whispered before her eyes closed. "Goodnight, Xhenia."

The entire night, Xhenia slept soundly in Amie's arms.

"It took three hours of packing, a twelve-hour flight, and an hour of driving, but we're finally back home," Amie sighed after parking in her garage. "I think I'm ready to sleep for an entire day. Did you want to stay the night?"

Xhenia looked up from her phone and shook her head. "No, I need to get home."

Amie hummed and nodded just as Ona opened her door.

"Hello, baby," Amie jokingly cooed and pinched Ona's cheeks. "Missed me?"

Ona rolled her eyes and reached over Amie to hand Xhenia her backup car key.

"Here, I brought it over this morning. Don't worry, Alekses drove my truck."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome," she nodded. "Did you two enjoy yourselves?"

Amie perked up when Ona asked that question and began talking her ears off about their adventure.

Leaving them to it, Xhenia got out of the car and let Paws and Oreo out. They quickly took off towards the yard and played.

While they played, Xhenia unloaded her things from Amie's vehicle and into hers. It wasn't long until Ona joined to help, stating she went to use the washroom.

"Is there something on your mind," Ona asked after moving in silence with Xhenia. It was obvious she had a lot on her mind.

Xhenia looked up after placing her last suitcase in her car and shook her head.

"Not really," she denied. "Why do you ask?"

Ona looked at the crease between Xhenia's eyebrows, the way she scrunched her nose, and the slight frown on the woman's and shrugged.

"Maybe because you're an open book," Ona hummed. "If you can't or don't want to tell me, just know you can trust Amie. She'll give you the support you need and will never tell a soul."

Well, except for me...sometimes. It depends on what you tell her. She'll immediately tell if you broke a nail or so, but she won't tell if you murdered someone.

"It's not that I don't want to or can't say. It's more like I don't know what to say," Xhenia mumbled. "I asked Amie to come back today because I needed to talk to Alekses. When I was there, I had everything I wanted to say in mind, but now that I'm here, I don't know what to say."

Ona watched Xhenia play with the zipper on her suitcase and thought before she spoke.

"I understand what you mean," she chuckled. "I was like that with Amie. Every day after school, I'd think of things to say to her the next day, but it all went out the window whenever I saw her. I'd always end up acting before I thought or spoke, which ended up with us fighting."

"Fighting?"

"Yep, fighting. Amie and I clashed heads whenever we saw each other in public, but it was a different story in private."

"Ew."

"Not like that," Ona said to quickly disperse the thoughts in Xhenia's mind. "In private, I knew what to say to her. I knew how to convey what I felt properly because I was comfortable in my privacy."

"So, you're saying I need to talk to her privately?"

"I imagine you were going to do that either way, but what I mean is, talk to her wherever you are most comfortable. That's when your words will soar like a dove over raging waters."

"Stop trying to be poetic," Amie slapped Ona upside her head before she turned to Xhenia. "Do what you feel is right."

"Where did you come from," Ona asked, fighting the urge to pull Amie into her arms. She didn't want to make Xhenia feel out of place, so instead, she lightly tugged on the back of Amie's shirt.

"The front door, obviously."

Both Xhenia and Ona gave Amie a nonchalant look and shook their heads.

"Thank you, Amie and Ona," Xhenia smiled. It was a genuine smile that made Amie grin, as well. "I'm going to head out before it gets any later."

"Are you sure you don't want to stay," Amie asked.

"I'm sure."

Xhenia then called for her pets and loaded them into the vehicle along with herself and set off with a lot on her mind. Each thought in her mind revolved around Alekses and what would be the possible outcome of their talk.

With the last ounce of confidence she had left, Xhenia unblocked Alekses' number and sent her a text.
