It was a couple months later, and it was now time for Quentin Beck's trial. True to her word, Jennifer Walters would be the prosecutor against Quentin while Anne Weying would be Quentin's defense lawyer. But Weying knew that with all this damning evidence against Quentin, she would be fighting a losing battle. The judge even denied the request to have Beck be let go on account of insanity, believing Quentin was sane and competent enough to stand trial. The judge in question was a former military judge known as Dwayne Semper, and given his military background, Semper was not a man to be messed with and did not tolerate any nonsense whatsoever. Jake, Yelena, Peter, and many of his friends and classmates, including Matt Murdock, were in the courtroom, all waiting for the trial of The People Vs Quentin Beck.
Yelena held Jake's hand and said, "don't worry Jake, I'll be with you, even if you're by yourself on the witnesses stand." Jake smiled a little and said, "thanks Yelena, that means a lot." The main bailiff then said, "bring in the defendant!" The guards then brought in Quentin, who was now in a standard prison uniform, handcuffs on his wrists. As he was brought to his lawyer's desk, Quentin glared daggers at Peter and Jake. Yelena squeezed Jake's hand with assurance. Quentin then went to the desk with his defense lawyer, allowing the guards to uncuff him. The bailiff then said, "All rise for the honorable Judge Dwayne Belafonte Semper!" Everyone stood up as a black man in his mid 60's, standing at 6'2 and wearing a standard judge robe walked in. This was Judge Semper. He sat on his chair and said, his voice velvety smooth like Keith David, "let the trial of The People Vs Quentin Beck begin." He then banged the gavel, signifying for everyone to sit down. He looked at Jennifer, this time wearing a respectable white dress coat, a purple button-down collared shirt, a white dress skirt that went down to her knees, and purple heels, all of which were made to accommodate her 6'7 muscular height and said, "Miss Walters, good to see you in better health after Mr. Parker's trial. Do you have an opening statement?"
Judge Semper was the judge in Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff's trial when Jennifer was their defense attorney, so this would be the second time they would work on a case together. Jennifer stood up and said, "my sentiments on seeing you again match yours, your honor. I do have an opening statement." She went to the center of the courtroom and said to be attendance and the jury, "Ladies and gentlemen, nearly a year ago, we were all tricked into thinking that Mysterio was an extra dimensional hero who was murdered by Peter Parker. But once the curtain was pulled back, we soon realized that Peter was framed for a crime he didn't commit and that Quentin Beck was a fraud with a Hero's Syndrome. It's not enough that Quentin caused untold damage to various countries in Europe, killing countless people with these man-made disasters. But when a true hero saw him for the liar he was and saved his classmates from being murdered, Quentin Beck and his accomplices, in their moment of failure, retaliated in the most extreme manner possible by ruining a young man's life, and endangering his loved ones. Because Quentin exposed Peter's identity as Spider-Man, Peter will never know a moment's rest again and will have to live with the consequences of Quentin's lies and exposures, for he will be a target of many villains. But we also have Peter, myself, and my friend Matt Murdock to thank for finding Beck and arresting him for his many heinous crimes. Today is a day in which you the jury will decide whether Quentin Beck must be held accountable for all his crimes. As my friend Matt said during Peter's trial, in the name of God, decide for yourself if Quentin is guilty and do your duty." Jennifer then sat on her desk, feeling confident.
Judge Semper looked at Quentin's lawyer and asked, "Miss Weying, do you have an opening statement?" Anne gave a bit of side eye to Quentin, grew stiff, and then said in a resigned voice, "no your honor. I have no opening statement." Quentin glared at Anne and Jennifer as Judge Semper said, "very well then. Let the trial commence. Miss Walters, call on your first witness." For the next few hours, Jennifer called various people over to the witness stand, including Peter, his Aunt May, MJ, Ned, Happy, Flash, Betty, even Matt was a witness. All of them gave accurate information regarding Quentin, including all the horrible things he had done as Mysterio. Anne of course asked questions about Beck's actions. And she was no slouch on the court. But even Weying knew she was fighting a losing battle. After Jennifer finished her questions with Matt as her witness, Quentin whispered something to Anne. She whispered something back, and from the look on her face, it looked like it wouldn't work. "Well give it a try anyway!" Quentin loudly whispered, "You're my lawyer, you should be making sure I don't go to jail!" Anne sighed reluctantly, and then she said, "your honor, could we have Jennifer Walters come up to the witness stand as a witness?" Judge Semper gave a puzzled look at Anne and said, "Ms. Weying, your request is denied. You and Mr Beck should know that Miss Walters is a prosecutor." He looked at Jennifer and asked, "do you call anyone else to testify as a witness, Miss Walters?"
