A/n- Alexander Hamilton having anxiety about storms. It's a classic so if you're gonna call me basic, fuck off. Also, please keep in mind I HAVE LIVED THROUGH A HURRICANE. What Alexander goes through in this chapter is very similar to what I go through during major thunderstorms, I just don't have easy access to a John Laurens. So don't hate on it cuz this is very related to my trauma. TW for trauma, panic attacks, and attempted suicide. Anyway, enjoy! :)

The day started normal. Alex had woken up early. He kissed his boyfriend's forehead and then went to work. He got a notification about light rain. It rained all the time in New York.

But not like this.

Somehow, Alexander had gone from being in a cabinet meeting and verbally kicking Thomas Jefferson's ass, to hiding under his work desk in his home office, praying John didn't come home to see what a mess he was. To see that his boyfriend, Alexander "Non-stop" Hamilton was afraid of storms. To see that the man who served in the military for almost six years after he graduated high school was quacking at a little thunder. To see the man he was considering adopting a child with, couldn't keep himself together when he saw the light from lightning.

If John saw him like this, Alexander was sure that John would call off their engagement.

Then his phone began to ring. John's name with a heart next to it flashed on his screen. Alexander whipped his eyes and tried to take a deep breath before answering.

"H-Hey." He said, his breath shaky.

"Hey Lex, you doing alright?" He asked.

"Uh, fine." He lied. "Why?"

"Just making sure. I know these kinds of storms aren't really your thing, so to speak." Alexander laughed a little, only to keep himself from crying,

"I'm perfectly fine. A little jumpy, but I'll manage." he said.

"Alright, well, I'm on my way home, so I'll see you in a bit." He said excitedly.

"Wait!" Alexander panicked. "I don't want you driving in this. It's dangerous." He said. John sighed.

"Hardly, Alex." He laughed. "I used to play in stuff 10 times worse than this back in North Carolina. Besides, I want to be there with you. Plus-"

"No, John. I won't budge on this one. Stay off the road for the love of god, okay?" John's breath hitched, but he agreed.

"Fine. But if you need anything at all, call me, alright?"

"Alright my love. Goodbye." He hung up before John could get another word in. He felt bad, sure, but he couldn't handle it. Thunder isn't something a grown man should be scared off. He should have gotten over this years ago.

Another crack of thunder made Alex jump so hard he hit his head on the bottom of his desk. Alexander shook his head. "Grow the fuck up." He said to himself. But he couldn't help it. Flashbacks of over flowing waters and dead bodies flooded his vision. He didn't feel safe in his own home. He was scared, for the first time since he had left the Caribbean at 17. Right now, he just wanted John. But John couldn't know.

Alex hung up the phone before John could even say 'goodbye' and 'I love you'. John knew Alex didn't like rain. He remembered the first time it rained more than a few drops in New York while they where together. How hard it was to get Alex to even step outside.

Flashback

John smelt the rain in the air as he heard the soft pitter patter of rain on his apartment window. Alexander, his boyfriend of nearly 6 months, was curled up in blankets, watching reruns of old Harry Potter films for the 10th time in the week he had been staying with John. John took a deep breath. God, he loved rain. He stood up and walked over to Alex, reaching his hand out. Alexander looked at him curiously and took his hand. John pulled him up and led him to the front door.  Alex froze as John walked outside. John looked back at him, wondering why he hadn't followed.
