Yeosang managed to calm down, but it took him quite a while to do so. He felt a little embarrassed for not being able to control his instincts. Large, warm hands rubbed his back, from his shoulders to his waist, up and down, again and again, gently. This helped him control his fear and finally loosened its grip on him.

"That's it" San whispered, "Calm down kitten, no one is going to hurt you."

He trembled again and finally lifted his face from his neck. He turned his head and their eyes met. San stopped petting him and took a deep breath.

"You're not a teenager," he shook his head, making his lips twitch, "I'm trying to understand why you didn't change when they were hunting you or why you didn't attack me."

He stared into his dark gaze. The fear returned and his body tensed.

"Calm down" he lowered his tone, "I'm not going to hurt you and I know you're not going to hurt me."

He couldn't hurt him even if he tried and that was the problem. He finally looked away from his intense dark eyes and studied his strong masculine features, his cheekbones, his straight nose, and his generous lips. He needed to shave, he had a little stubble on his jaw and upper lip. His silky black hair looked freshly trimmed. He turned his gaze to his.

"You could have run away, I've chased your kind before and I know how fast they can run, why didn't you? Playing with a bunch of wolves isn't very bright and you're old enough to know that."

Yeosang had to swallow the lump in his throat to speak, "I can't" he whispered.

San scowled at him, "You can't what?"

The fear of sharing the truth with him made him stop. He didn't know the werewolf's customs or his beliefs. They had assured him that his father's family would consider him an abomination, something that should not exist. If his family had known of his existence, they would have killed him at birth.

"You can't what? Be smarter?" he raised an eyebrow.

"Change" he admitted.

He blinked, his frown fading and surprise registering on his features, "Are you hurt?" He sniffed him, "I smell blood on you, but not much."

"Will you still keep your promise not to hurt me?"

"I always keep my word."

Once again, he seemed sincere. He licked his dry lips and followed his movement before raising his eyes again to look at him.

"My mother is human and my father was half-cougar, his father was human."

The handsome man looked at him carefully, "Shit, you're more human than cougar, can't you really change?" He shook his head, "Don't you have claws or teeth?"

He let go of him with one arm and raised his hand, showing his nails and then pulled back his upper lip to show him his normal teeth.

"I'm terrified" he admitted, lowering his arm and closing his hand in the crook of his shoulder, "If i could, i would have done it already."

"Your scent is that of a changeling, but it is very weak."

"I didn't know."

"Didn't your father tell you?"

Yeosang hesitated again, wondering what he would do if he realized that he had no one to protect him and no one to avenge him if he broke his word. He had no shifting family who wanted to avenge him or even cared if he dumped his corpse in the nearest ravine. His mother was all he had. She was a human and she couldn't do anything.
