pearl and her friends walked to their neighborhood, where they all lived nearby although pearl's house was a bit further than the others. once they got to their neighborhood they all said goodbye and walked to their houses.

whenever pearl got home she made sure to wipe the bottom of her shoes on the welcome mat that they had out on their doorsteps. pearl's mother, martha, loved it when the house was clean so did her father, vincent, but he wasn't too stern when it came to the cleaniness of a house.

pearl opened the door and walked inside her house. the first thing she smelled when she walked inside was dinner. "pearl is that you?" martha yelled from the kitchen. "yes mom!" pearl yelled back, walking to her room to drop off her backpack.

her room was a very tidy one, a room with pastel pink walls and a simple light brown carpet floor. pearl didn't really make a mess in her room, though she only left quite a few messes when she had to do a school project but that was it.

she left her backpack on the floor and walked out straight to the kitchen. "pearl, honey, could you please get out some bowls and spoons?" martha asked, holding a small sized pot full of stew on her hands. pearl nodded and immediately went to get them from the kitchen drawers.

martha then placed the pot on the table. then, pearl placed three towls on the table along with three spoons. then, martha grabbed a laddle and began serving stew on the bowls. luckily by the time martha was done serving dinner, vincent got home from work.

"hello family" vincent greeted, giving martha a kiss on the cheek. "how was your day martha?" he asked, a question he'd always ask every day he got home from work. "my day was good. how was work?" she asked. "work was alright, although today there weren't many patients" he said.

vincent worked as a doctor meanwhile martha was a housewife. vincent made a really good amount of money at his job, so they didn't struggle financially.

"how was school pearl?" vincent asked. "it was alright dad" she replied. "i'm glad you made it just in time for dinner because today i made your favorite, beef stew" martha smiled at vincent. "oh that's great" vincent grinned as he began to eat.

"mom, dad" pearl spoke. both her parents looked at her, listening. "so you both know i have two other friends who i talk to at school besides joyce and well... they've been wanting to know if i could go to their house tomorrow to meet some other friends and i told them i would ask y'all for permission. can i go?" she asked.

vincent and martha looked at each other, martha shrugged so vincent had to make the decision. "alright pearl, you may go but although tomorrow is saturday, i'd still like you home early by around eight o'clock sharp" he responded. "thanks dad" pearl smiled, finishing her dinner.

it was saturday morning and pearl woke up from her sleep. nothing much happened on saturdays, it was like the weekdays except pearl didn't have school. vincent worked on saturdays but he didn't work on sundays.
