one month later

a month had passed and pearl still hung out with dallas behind her parent's back, lying to them that she would be hanging out with joyce.

pearl anxiously glanced at her watch, she was supposed to meet up with dallas at the dingo for a date. but little did she know that he was planning something very special for her.

once she was heading out the door, she had the courage to tell her parents that she was going to hang out with joyce. like always, they smiled at her and told her to be safe and have fun.

pearl slipped out of her house and met up with dallas over at the dingo. his cool exterior slightly softened once he saw her walking towards him. "hey doll, ready for our date?"

"absolutely" she smiled at him. dallas grinned at her. "thought we'd go to the dingo and eat then go to the park or somethin" pearl nodded, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

inside the dingo, they settled into the booth by the window, the same one they settled on while on their blind date, the color and bright lights adding it's charm to it's place. dallas maintained his somewhat distant demeanor, but his eyes softened whenever they met upon pearl's gaze.

they went for their usual order, a burger and a milkshake. they kept on chatting while they waited for their orders

as they finished their meal, dallas stood up, offering his hand to pearl. "m'lady" he said, moking a british accent. pearl couldn't help but laugh at his weird voice once she took his hand with a smile, feeling a rush of warmth at his gesture.

the park was bathed in the soft glow of late evening, the golden hues of the setting sun painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. dallas and pearl sat together on a bench, a sense of tranquility enveloping them as they enjoyed the peacefulness of the moment along with the sunset.

dallas, usually reserved was deeply thinking about something. then, he cleared his throat, his eyes fixed on pearl with a mix of nervousness and determination. "pearl, there's something i've been wanting to ask you."

pearl turned to him, her gaze filled with curiosity. "what is it, dallas?"

taking a deep breath, dallas took off his st. christopher chain and held it delicately between his fingers, as if it were a sacred treasure. "i want you to have this" he said, handing it over to her

pearl reached out, her fingers brushing against the pendant. "it's beautiful, dallas. but can i ask why do you want me to have it?"

dallas felt a lump form in his throat, it was now time. "pearl, will you be my girlfriend?" he suddenly asked.

pearl's heart swelled with emotion as she looked at dallas, his sincerity shining through."yes dallas, i'd love to be your girlfriend" she smiled.

a warm smile spread across dallas's face as he watched pearl fasten the chain around her neck, the pendant resting gently against her chest.

they sat in companionable silence for a while, the evening casting a gentle blanket of serenity over them. as the stars began to twinkle in the darkening sky, pearl leaned her head against dallas's shoulder, a sense of happiness filling her.

"i'm glad we're sharing this moment," dallas murmured, his voice filled with gratitude.

pearl nodded, feeling a sense of closeness and understanding with dallas that she had never experienced before. "me too"

they stayed at the park bench until the moon hung high in the sky, their hearts intertwined in a bond that transcended words. as they finally stood up to leave, dallas took pearl's hand in his, ready to walk her home.

once she walked inside her home, pearl felt a sense of contentment wash over her. before opening the door, pearl hid the st. christopher chain in her pocket. she was not ready to tell her parents about her and dallas but she knew that they would have to find out sooner or later, so she decided to tell them tomorrow during breakfast.

the morning sun peeked through the curtains, painting the breakfast table in a soft golden color as pearl sat nervously with her parents. she had been overthinking about how to tell her parents about her relationship with dallas, but now, with her heart pounding, she knew it was time.

"mom, dad, i have something important to tell you both," pearl began, her voice tinged with a mix of excitement and apprehension.

vincent lowered his newspaper, giving her his full attention. "what is it pearl?"

martha set down her coffee cup, concern flickering in her eyes. "you look like you have something on your mind, dear. you can tell us anything."

taking a deep breath, pearl gathered her courage. "i've started seeing someone. his name is dallas, and we're dating."

there was a moment of silence, the air heavy with anticipation, before martha's face lit up with a warm smile. "oh pearl! that's wonderful news!"

vincent's expression softened as he nodded. "we're really happy for you, sweetheart. does dallas treat you well?"

pearl nodded eagerly, relief washing over her. "yes, dad. he's kind, respectful, and i know he really cares about me."

martha reached across the table to pat pearl's hand. "that's all we could ask for, dear. we trust you pearl."

vincent leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful look on his face. "when can we meet this young man?"

pearl's heart skipped a beat at the thought of dallas meeting her parents, but she knew it was a step she needed to take. "i can arrange a meeting soon, dad. I think you'll like him."

martha's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "tell us more about him pearl." pearl smiled, grateful for her parents' interest. "well he's actually from new york, but he came here when he was about thirteen."

vincent nodded approvingly. "sounds like a good young man. we look forward to meeting him."

as they finished breakfast, pearl felt a weight lift off her shoulders. she called dallas later that day to share the good news, excitement bubbling in her voice as they discussed the upcoming meeting.

"dallas, my parents are excited to meet you," she said, her heart fluttering with anticipation.

his voice was filled with warmth and affection. "i can't wait to meet them, doll. they must be really nice people."
