Was I Wrong?

Bella stomps into an empty balcony, Mackenzie following close behind.

-"Well, that went well." - Mackenzie couldn't hold back the sarcasm. In return, Bella looks back at her and rolls her eyes. -"It could've gone worse, though. You could've thrown your drink at him."

-"I thought about it, but it would've been a waste of a perfectly good wine." - Bella hears Mackenzie chuckle softly. -"Was I wrong though?"

-"You weren't. But... You know how Henry is. Did you really expect anything else?"

-"Actually, I did. Considering that he has asked to court me, I actually did." - Bella sighs. -"It was foolish of me to think that just because he wishes to court me he would stop being an ass."

-"I actually thought he was quite subdued, giving how he usually is."

-"He was the same asshole as he always is."

-"Bella, have you considered that maybe he is testing you to see if you can handle his Court? I know his Court and let me tell you, they are not as friendly as Josh's."

-"That shouldn't matter. He is the one who's courting me, or attempting to, not his Court."

-"True. But you shouldn't be so quick to cut him off entirely."

-"I know. But he doesn't need to be an ass every time we see each other."

-"Look, at the end of the day, the decision is yours. But I believe there's more to Henry than he lets on. He wasn't always like this and, sure, thirteen years can change a person, but I'm certain that the old Henry is still there, somewhere deep inside. All he needs is for someone like you to bring him out."

-"I'm not a miracle worker, Mackenzie." - Bella sees Mackenzie chuckle.

-"Never confused you for one. Ultimately, you need to weigh in what's really important and what you're willing to put up with in order to get it."

Bella nods, knowing that Mackenzie is right. Footsteps move away from her and she knows she's alone. Bella wonders if maybe she took all that King Henry said a little to personally. After all, it is his right not to enjoy Balls and what not.

But what if Mackenzie is wrong? What if there's no coming back for King Henry? And if he is an ass now, what will he be like once they are married? Will he just stick to words or will he take it a step further? Bella shakes her head. "Why is this so complicated? With Jensen it was all so simple.", she thinks as she looks up at the night sky.

She stays on that balcony for a while, considering all her options and realizes that she needs time to make sure that she makes the right decision. However, she feels that time is something that she doesn't have and that, before she knows it, it will be running out.
