Back in her room, Bella paces back and forth, what Alexander told her flooding her mind. How could she had been so wrong about Henry? She should've known better than to trust a man who is well known for being ruthless.
A knock on the door snaps her back to reality.
-"Come in."
-"What happened? Josh told me to see if you're okay." - Mackenzie sounds as concerned as she looks.
-"Henry lied. He truly is the Devil."
-"Okay, hold on. Tell me what happened."
Bella spends the next few minutes telling Mackenzie all that Alexander told her and how Henry confirmed it.
-"What did Henry say happened?"
-"I told you. He said that it was true. I left after that."
-"You could at least let him tell you his side." - Mackenzie rubs her forehead.
-"Are you serious right now? You really think I should've listen to whatever excuses he was going to give me to try and justify what he did?"
-"Bella, I know Henry. He wouldn't do something like that just for kicks."
-"Well, apparently he did."
-"Here's a crazy thought. Maybe, considering all that has happened between the two of you, you could give him the benefit of the doubt and actually listen to what he has to say?"
-"So he can lie to me?"
-"Bella, from where I'm standing, you have two choices. You can either believe the man that has been giving you the creeps ever since he arrived. Or the man that put himself in harms way to save Alexis and asked for nothing in return."
Bella doesn't answer. Rubbing her temples, a headache already settling in, she thinks that this is not how she thought her day would go when she woke up that morning.
Mackenzie takes Bella's silence as her cue to leave. She knows that Bella needs time to sort things out and that Mackenzie has made her point, giving Bella some much needed perspective.
Mackenzie has always hated Alexander, even when they were children, and now she hates the man even more. Why would he do this now, when Bella is finally finding some happiness for herself that doesn't revolve around Alexis.
She can only hope that the damage isn't too big and that there's still time to fix this. If not, then she will be having a very animated conversation with Alexander, and she is sure that it's going to end with Alexander bloodied.
