Bella marches down the corridor, headed for her room, her mind racing with what Henry just told her. She was wrong about him when she thought that what he had done for Alexis was a sign that maybe he was a good man after all.
She stomps into her room, throwing her door close behind her, the loud crash filling the silence of her room. Bella stalks out onto her balcony, bracing the stone railing, and thinks back to what he had said. "We are two sides of the same coin."
Bella knows that, when Jensen died, she could've easily become jaded and cold, but she had made the conscious effort to be the polar opposite, not just for herself but for Alexis as well.
That spurs a thought. What would Henry be like if he hadn't allowed his grief to take over when his wife died? Would he still be the way he is? Or would he be more kind and compassionate?
Bella shakes her head and focuses back on what he had said. She tells herself that she is nothing like him and that she is proud of how she has lived her life for the last fourteen years, making sure that she always treated everyone fairly and kindly, the total opposite of what she knows of Henry.
She takes a deep breath and lets it out, attempting to calm herself and coming to terms with the fact that Henry will always be the Evil King everyone always told her he is and nothing will ever change that.
But when she thinks back to Alexis and what he did for her, the doubts reemerge. She knows he didn't have to go after Alexis and from what her daughter told her, he did all he could to be sure she was as safe as possible.
On the other hand, he had been more than willing to kill an unarmed man, even if he tried to shield Alexis from it, and if Alexis hadn't stop him, he would've easily done so, with no remorse or doubt.
Letting out another deep breath, Bella thinks that just when she thought she had gotten a glimpse of the man Henry truly is, something like this happens and she is back to seeing the man everyone tells her he is.
She goes back inside and starts getting ready for bed, deciding that nothing good will come from dwelling too much into this. At least, not tonight.
